I let my daughter play online looking at websites for Disney World. I left a few open for her, including the one below.

Children should NOT be allowed to play on this site. Do NOT go to this page. I included it so other kids dont stumble on it and get this nasty stuff thrown at them.

I tried to disable this so no one will click to see it who shouldn't, but it appears to be making it into a link. This page was found on mickeynews.com!

Are there any other sites that appear to be family friendly, that have junk like this on them? I have NEVER EVER have seen those pages on Dis, MouseSavers, or anywhere else! I am sooooo mad she saw that! But now I am VERY concerned that these pages are around.

If you know of other sites, please let me know.

I was sitting next to her when it came up, so I changed it as soon as I realized what it said. I'm just irritated because it appears to be a family site and I didn't expect to see such filth. Very disappointing and disgusting...

What has happened to this page, is that it has been hacked by a php guru. If you goto this website which is that website a year or so ago, before it was hacked you can see that it was not always like that.

I think the page was hijacked by a hacker (replacing the page with his/her owncontent). I notified the webmaster.

It looked like a warning from the webmaster with a nasty sense of humor. Gross.

Still - not safe for kids - totally messed up my day.

Hi Rose! Actually, add "other/" to the end of that archived page, and it will pull up the archived version of this awful page! So, it's been there for a looong time. maybe it slipped through all this time... I sure hope so. But, still, that is totally awful!

The page may have been there for a while, but has it been linked to? Very possible that it has been sitting there without the webmaster knowing about it for quite some time.

The rest of the site looks on the up-and-up. Very doubtful that ithe page was put there by the designers. In fact, having looked at the source code for the page, it's pretty clear that it wasn't.

OT: It is possible for your own computer to be hacked or hijacked so when you type in the correct name of a perfectly good website (like wdwinfo.com or ebay.com or amazon.com) something else, likely something hazardous or dangerous, comes up instead.

I'm only just learning about this so I don't yet have any tips on how to recognize things like this. The dangerous website is more hazardous when it does not have obscenities but instead closely resembles what you really wanted and captures your password.

I did a search for mickey news and went to the site. It was fine. Disney news, items, etc. That is strange.

seashoreCM - Yes, it's pretty sad the extent to which people will go to fool you. Much of it comes from overseas. You can download the nearly completed IE7 browser at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx. It has additional built-in safeguards.

Actually -- if you're using a browser provided by your ISP (yahoo dsl, etc), you'll want to check with them before making that download. I doubt it would hurt anything, but...
