give me a break! "If" a person says something bad on here I can see where they would get "points" but what they do on another mb WM should have No control over...Just MO...

I would like to believe that. However, I am a skeptic. TPTB have banned some people that I also thought were pretty nice people, until I saw their other side either here or elsewhere in regards to me and/or my partner. Until about 3 days ago, I had never seen the other place. I don't care to go back there again either. I can live without their negativity.

Question- did they break any rules here? So some people were negative on another site. It's the same as walking out of a room and people talking about you. It happens all the time.

And the negativity you speak of, could you link me some posts from the DIS where these posters were negative or rude?

It's already been said but hopefully to add to the "credibility" factor...

I'm not a big poster (until the last couple of days!) but I have been here for quite a few years with one user name.

The 100+ are real people, with real history and real posts. I find it incredible that people would try to portray it as anything other.

People either don't know, and are guessing, and therefore shouldn't speak as if they know for sure.

Or, for some unclear reason they don't want to discover the real story.

Or worse, they know better but pretend otherwise to further their own agenda.

Hmm interesting, I thought the same thing recently. I also remember Cathryn claiming she received points recently. I suppose it would be a good idea to post under a different name to avoid getting banned. Oh wait isn't that what CR states others are doing? Just curious really.

I'm wondering how you could possibly be in any position to know how many "real" people there were?

I assume you don't visit the-site-which-must-not-be-named (so you don't actually know who in fact has been banned), but if there were only 20 real people then wow those folks must literally be magic . They somehow knew this was going to happen and created 80 names all 2-9 years ago and then made 1000s of post with those user names! And they made sure to give their aliases completely different personalities, family pics in their signatures, and political views--and kept up the charade for years!

Maybe they were banned for witchcraft!

I do have to say that sometimes the Community Board is a rough place. Some of the posts are downright rude. I usually just skip over those and if someone really bugs me, I place them on my ignore list.

And you know what? We do not like that it's become that way. While some in this thread have commented that it's boring, I do not think that's a bad thing. The Community Board wasn't meant to be some edgy, hip, exciting and dangerous place. That's not what this forum is about, and frankly, it's much more pleasant when it's like this.

Yes, there are a number of posters who are no longer welcome to participate here. I don't know the number, but it's a lot higher than 20. And the reasons for this range from harassing, ridiculing and attacking other posters here, to actively encouraging those who did the attacking, or for bringing arguments from other forums back to disrupt our forums.

Many posters who had never been involved in the bullying and attacking watched as the bullies were banned and made assumptions about the reasons for this. Some of them then chose to lash out and disrupt our forums with rude posts, directions to get to other forums where the fighting was being fueled, profanity and open attacks, and worse. I think that some did that with some misguided idea that acting this way was noble, as if throwing a tantrum and forcing getting banned was some badge of honor... I don't get that, but whatever.

Sometime in the future, some of those who were not part of the real meanness may be invited to rejoin the DISboards. I'm sure they won't all want to. But the DIS, and especially the Community Board, won't be a place where people are afraid to post because of people out there who use their posts as fodder for ridicule and attacks.

This thread has gotten ugly, and I'm just sick of the meanness. Either participate respectfully and kindly, or find somewhere else that is more your cup of tea. You don't have to like everybody, but you DO have to treat them with respect.
