I'm sorry if this has been discussed previously but I need to know if you can reserve 2 rooms at the APH rate. We're going the first week of June and I have 2 rooms at $124 ea per night at the RPR. I just want to make sure I don't need to purchase one more annual pass before I buy the $86 tickets for the rest of the family.

Thanks for the help!!

You can only reserve one room per pass, If you have two rooms, you need two passes.

Enjoy your trip!

You do need a pass for each room. However, you don't always get asked at check in for the pass.

I recall reading posts from people that said they were told if the 2nd room was for their kids they could book the two rooms under one AP and get the APH discount. I'm not stating this is fact but I sure would call and check that out.

To get the discount, does it matter if your APH is Premier, preferred, or annual power pass? Also, if I have already purchased the $85.00 tickets, but obviously have not picked them up at the e-ticket thing, can I cancel those tickets? We have two rooms reserved but in buying two of the annual power passes, we would still save a lot of money (if I can get my money back for teh $85.00 tickets I already purchased).

The power pass does not give you discount benefits. You need either the Preferred or the Premier pass to get the hotel, dining and shopping discounts.

I cannot find the $124 rates/night at RPH. Where can I find that? It certainly would be worth it to me to get an APH for that rate. We do have two rooms, however, anyone know if I can apply that to my two rooms (1 APH for two rooms)? I love these boards. I have been getting so many good tips and information that my total expense for this trip keeps going down!

Use the code APH in the code box. You need one pass per room.

I still keep getting rate quoted at $215/night. My AAA is better, but not better than $124.

We have always been told 1 room per pass and we always book 2 rooms because there are 6 of us. We each have our own AP so its not really an issue.

As I mentioned above I recalled more than a couple of posts that stated if immediate family (like children) was staying in the 2nd room one AP would be OK for both rooms. I found the posts and decided to call RPR directly. I was told if you book a connecting room for the kids and the reservation for both rooms is in the APH's name, one AP would be allowed. These are the posts from others on the subject.

"Universal resorts will allow you to book 2 rooms with one APH if you are booking the extra room for your minor children. If you are booking another room for other adults then there has to be atleast one adult APH for each room."

"Thanks for the replies. I did end up calling the resort back and was told that it would not be a problem to have only one annual pass card for both rooms since both rooms would be occupied by my immediate family(my children). One child will be in one room with me while the other two will be in the adjoinng room with their mom. They assured me that one annual pass for both rooms booked in my name would not be an issue."

you don't have to cancel the tickets.
since you already paid for them, pick them up at the kiosk and take them to guest services.

you can upgrade them there for the preferred annual pass.
you will pay the difference of the difference of the two.

Thank you for checking for me! And, yes, it will be my kids in the room beside us. We're bringing my mom and a friend of my daughter's, which caused us to need another room.

For those checking online for the rate, I had to call and ask for it. I never could get it online. I read somewhere on here where someone had gotten a really good rate for the same time I was going to be there and thought I would give them a call.

Thank you everyone for your help!! These boards are the best!! :)

Since the 2nd room will have an adult (your mom) I would double check AND get it in writing if they allow you to use one AP. I would assume your Mom would need an AP for that 2nd room. It isnt the same as needing a second room for children due to an immediate family of more than 5. This is just my guess but I would want it straightened out before check-in. :)

agree with the other poster on this subject. just repeating my thoughts as no one wants to be stuck with rack rate when they check in if you received wrong info.

i thought the policy was the second room could be booked with the one ap as it was for the children of the family that booked the first room with the ap. And, it was connecting rooms so the family with more kids could all be together. 2 rooms connecting for one family. add'l room due to rules and policy of only 5 in a room.
since you stated you needed another room due to your mom and an additional friend now going, you better check before hand. i have not heard if that second room will qualify for the ap rate based on the above situation as you phrased it.

please call and verify everything before hand.
be on the safe side as any unexpected additional expenses can put a real damper on a vacation.

I think I'll just go ahead and get an APH for my daughter. Then I'm covered and she will have the discounts when our group is split up at the parks.

is your daughter 21?

that is the minumum age for booking a room at the universal hotels.

No - she's almost 17. But since I'm making the reservation and she's going to be staying in the room, I don't see what that has to do with anything. We have two rooms booked and will have two passes. I would have to pay the same amount regardless of who has the pass. It just makes the most sense that since the girls will be off on their own a lot, they have the opportunity to use the discounts too, especially since we have to purchase the seond one. Surely they can't be that nitpicky. I consider my mom coming along as immediate family and my daughter's best friend could almost be my daughter (she's over all the time).

You are correct and her age has no bearing since the reservation is in your name. Good idea to have it in her name since maybe you will head back again before the years is out.
