APEE faltering so EMH to DCA every day this summer for Disney hotel guests?

What happens if you make an APEE reservation and don't go? Do you get to make a second reservation? Just curious!

I wish they would just let us APers go again. They only reason they said we can only use APEE once is because they thought alot more people would sign up.

I hope this doesn't end up being true. We are coming from Louisiana next month and I just registered us for a morning at each park during our visit. I would love to have that hour in the parks with more limited guests in attendance!

Well this isnt a surprise to me in the least! I said it on these boards the day it was officially announced that I didnt see many Apers doing this! The reality is most Apers either work so its too hard to do it on a week day and the other reality is its not a huge need since they are, well, Apers and have access all year long. If CL is SO bad they have to get there at 7 a.m. for it (and its not), then most will just wait it out until the crowd dies down.

And I mentioned in a thread I created that I was given a APEE promotion when I got my FP for SM 2 weeks ago. Well was at the park yesterday and got it once again. So its clear not many people are taking advantage of it. If what Al says is true, its probably a good thing for the park and people who stay overnight who really will take advantage of it of course.

I hope they don't end up doing this. We're scheduled to visit just after the APEE ends, but I was still looking forward to being able to do the jump back and forth for my first park of the day thing (avoiding whichever park had EE) in order to at least have a fair chance at a short wait for RSR. If they really do what he's saying, then onsite folks would have the choice of two parks to enter at 7 am on some days. Would this have precedent? I mean, does WDW run extra hour perks in two parks simultaneously?

This rumor upsets me for the same reason. It has the potential to make planning mornings even more difficult if both parks are open at the same time every other day for EMH. I wouldn't be surprised if this happens though. I guess I'll still switch between parks either way to avoid having to make difficult decisions. :confused3

From the FAQ:

"Can I make a change to my registration? Due to the limited capacity of these events, registrations cannot be changed or cancelled after confirmation. Annual Passholders are strongly encouraged to register for dates they will be able to attend."

AND:

"I registered for an event, but did not attend. Can I attend an Annual Passholder Early Entry at the same Park on another date instead?
No. Due to the limited capacity of these events, each Annual Passholder may only register for one Annual Passholder Early Entry event at each Park."

hold on a second.....am i reading this wrong??? I thought the rumor is they will discontinue AFTER Sept...not now

Tonight between 10pm and midnight, DHS will be open with EMH and the MK will also be open. So they have multiple parks open while at least one has EMH perks.

And during busy times like the Christmas week, they have multiple parks (MK and one other) with simultaneous 8am-9am EMH Morning perks almost every day:

Interesting note ... on December 28th, the Magic Kingdom opens at 7am. Nice.

sorry ValpoCory...this thread is in regards to DL and DCA...not wdw...

I think he was responding to that post. This will make staying on site more worth wild if that's the case.

IF it is true that they are having getting APs in early, then why not do away with having to resgister first. Just let us go in if we are there and have a valid AP. Seems better than opening it up to hotel guests. Just give APers the summer- that's all. :confused3

I think the other issue with AP EE program and as I stated before as well is there are waaaaay too many restrictions for it. The fact you have to sign up just to enter an hour before probably put many people off. Add to the fact you cant even do it if you are blocked out which would include most of the Apers and everyone must have an AP to do it, ie if you have an AP but your girlfriend or kids dont, then they cant do it or if they have an AP that blocks them out on certain days and cant get a block out ticket.

I understand they were doing it to keep down the APers from over loading the parks, but I think they went so far with the restrictions people just didnt want to bother with it. I certainly wouldnt but getting to DLR at 7 a.m. if I dont have a hotel there is not exactly a huge win for me lol. I'm not a morning person and I can count the number of times I been inside DLR on one hand at that hour my entire life.

So who knows, if there are really that few of them coming out, they may just open it up the remaining of the summer for anyone who isnt blocked out. I think this entire CL hysteria thing is just over blown completely. I already made a thread stating how light the entire resort feels this summer already and the AP EE thing was basically done to placate the Apers who complained they didnt have weeks long soft openings for it like they did in the past and to give them their fill before everyone else does it.

But the reality is unless you just want to ride RSR which I understand is the main draw, but the land and DCA in general is light enough no one really needs to do it. Again, if you are a tourist there for 3 days and you do it once a year or two, I dont mean people like that. I'm talking about locals who can go at least once in the week and can find plenty of time to hit the new stuff since DLR in general this summer feels very light, so maybe another reason not many are trying on top of the restrictions and just no time to hit the park that early, nor want to!

Yes, you are right about all those restrictions. Or lift the one that says you must register no later than 3 days before. Why? That leaves me one day to try to register after I get there and hope my AP is "in the system" by then. I've been watching wait times and it seemed like the rest of the parks were very do-able or better than last summer so I'm glad to know that from first hand experience. It is hard to tell too much from a wait time app from home.

I don't like it but can see this happening. Our APEE days are in August. The whole process seems inconvenient. I don't mind the online registration but wish it was somehow automatically connected to my AP.

Oh I hope this takes place soon!! We leave in 4 days and I would love to spend all of our EE at DCA. We are staying at the DLR.

Beggars can't be choosers.

Maybe it would of been best to not let APs in early at all. This APEE is a perk. This is why it has limits and restrictions.

When the period APHs could first do it two dynamics were causing it to max out. DCA had new stuff and SoCal APs were not blocked out. The SoCal APs along with other APs hoping to get in when this stuff was brand new is what filled up those EEs into DCA. Then the blockout started and the initial rush ended and the EEs were not nearly as busy.

Also with most of DCA open during the EE it let the APs spread out, unlike in DL where they are restricted to two lands and comparitively nothing was new.

Then couple this with APs behavior. APs don't need to rush to the park to pack in rides for every hours its open. They can arrive at a more leisurely pace since they can come over and over again.

Agree with all of this! I STILL think the restrictions made things too limited which shot them in the foot but of course I understand why they did it. But as pinkbudgie said, I dont get the need registering 3 days before your date? I mean if there is still room the next day, then I dont get the issue doing it then? So I think being extra cautious and being so limited is a big part of the problem.

And I said this from the beginning they probably only needed to do it the first month anyway while people were super excited to to do it. I imagine most Apers who are local who REALLY wanted to see CL has A. Either seen it already or B. Will just wait until later regardless because the crowds scared them. So there was no need to do it past the first few weeks of opening although I understand why they would offer it all summer obviously. And like you said a lot of Apers are blocked out now, the majority of them actually so come August and September it probably will pick up a bit. I still dont get why they just dont give the lower Apers the option to buy a black out ticket and go? I mean if you have a limited number, you have a limited number. So give them the oppurtunity to go even if they buy a black out ticket for it, especially if its not reaching its limit.

And if you are a Deluxe or Premium holder, which are the only two that can even go now, you have SO MUCH time to go! I had a friend who has a Deluxe pass who showed up at the resort around 10:30 on a Wednesday night just so he could ride RSR before the park closed. Thats the kind of advantages local Apers can do on their own already, especially the hardcore ones.

Hopefully this rumor will stay that, a rumor, but Al's predictions are pretty accurate / reliable.
I am hoping this doesn't happen too.

The only rumor I can remember not panning out is The Market House becoming a Starbucks. Of course a couple years later we have a Starbucks in DCA but it took several years and it isn't Disneyland/Market House.
