I think I have this new Magic Way ticket thing figured out to find the break-even point with the AP/with DVC discount. If my figures are correct it's slightly under 7 days. Here's how I figured it, using figures from allears.net:
AP will be $403.64-$100 DVC discount=$303.64, this is including tax.
a comparable "Magic Your Way" 7 day ticket is $199. To make it comparable to the AP, add $35 for the park hopper and $55 for the no expiration option[I'll do it without that option later]. That totals $289. Then add the 6.5% tax, to total to $307.78 AP price=$303.64, 7 day ticket=$307.78
Does anyone know if there's an 8 or 9 day option or only a 10?

I was running the same calculation and I think your calculations are right if you don't do advanced purchase on you MYW Pass. With the advanced purchase discount, a 7 Day Park Hoper is $223.00 Plus $55 for No Expiration Plus 6.5% Tax is 296.07 compared to $297.14 for an Annual Pass ($379 w/o Tax -$100 = 279 +6.5% Tax I don't think you need to pay tax on the Discount). At 7 Days it would be a wash to Slightly better for the Annual Pass if you use any of the discounts.

The after-tax price for APs with the DVC discount actually comes out to $297.14, not far off your $303 estimate. The comparable "Magic Your Way" tix option might be the 7 day @$199 + park hopping @$35 + no expiry @$55 = $289 + 6.5% sales tax = $307.79 > AP cost of $297.14.

I think I'd consider the AP at about 6 park days, since the extra discounts can be really nice (assuming they continue of course).

Don't forget the value of the parking included with annual passes -- $8/day -- for those who prefer to drive on occasion.

I think that the big advantage of the new ticket with the park hopper and no expiration options is that the ticket never expires.

The AP must be renewed each year. If you do not use the AP for 7 or 8 days in a one year period it is done. Not so with the new ticket. I can use it until it is all used up. This may make the AP less appealing for those who would have a hard time using 7 or 8 days on the AP

The MYW tix option you quoted is the gate price but the one "johde" quoted is advanced purchase +hopper +noexp. fyi...

I don't think the "break even" point is cut and dry for everyone. If you go on a trip where you will be spending 6-7 days in the parks no matter what, then you might as well get the Annual Pass and hope for other discounts and maybe to squeeze in another trip before it expires. But if you are like us, on a 1-week trip we will spend maybe 2-3 days at Disney Parks, 1/2 at a Disney water park, at least 2 days "off" and 1-2 days at Universal. So we much prefer the "park hopper" style passes with no expiration date. We also love Disney quest, PI, and the water parks, so I would be much more likely to get the "plus" feature of the new passes and no expiration date. We have previously been able to stretch a 7 day +4 park hopper pass over 3 trips. That's a great value.

I agree with JLS. Everyone has a different breakeven point, depending on the style of vacation they enjoy.

Without getting into the details, we typically stay 12-nights per year at WDW. At 12 nights, I believe we're right at our breakeven point...so I see no benefit either way. Although, the built in security of never expiring tips the scale toward PHP for us.

This topic has become extremely complicated with the introduction of the MYW pass. I will be scratching my head for a while trying to figure out what is in our best interest. We don't care about park hopping that much, but the MYW additions for Disney Quest, PI, and the no expiry option are appealing--especially with the 10 day pass which has 10 park entries and 5 options that include DQ, PI, and water parks :scratchin . With an addition of the no expiration, it might turn out to be a better deal. I don't know. I'm confused.

The AP discounts are great, and of course much appreciated, but the revamping of the pass system clouds the picture a little.

i can not find out anything about the 10day myw ticket. only can find postings up to 7 day. can someone tell me price with no expire option and plus

if you go to www.mousesavers.com there is more information on the new tickets. 10 day no expiration and plus options comes out to 354. I think you would also add tax to the total. Also, take into consideration that there is a discount for advance purchase, too.

$209 (10 day base ticket)
$100 (no expiration for 10 day ticket)
$ 45 (Magic plus pack option-5 plus options including DQ, PI, or water parks)
___________________________
$354 for 10 day no expiry, 1 park per day, plus 5 plus options.

not a bad deal if you don't visit more than one park per day.

Does the 14 day expiration policy on these new MYW passes remind anyone of the UK pass they used to offer? I always thought the UK pass was a great deal. You had 14 days to use it and it was a pass that included admission to everything for a great price. I always thought that would be a great pass to be able to get.

Ahhh yes.... Speaking of other AP discounts, we saved several hundred dollars on YC concierge during our last stay.
Since this type of savings is somewhat random, I'm not sure how you would factor them into the AP equation...

The 10 days looks good to me at mousesaver.com the cost is 10 more then a 7 dat ticket the only big jump is for never expire $100 and $55 for 7 day ticket still for $55 you get 3 days of WDW parks great price. :cool1:

Mousesavers now has the price for an advance 10 day. With hopper and no expiration date added it is 353.58 with tax, compared to 297.14 for DVC AP which is a savings of 56.44. A 7 day is 296.08, DVC AP would be just 1.06 more.

Actually, its only $353 w tax. Provided you can apply the no expiration option to the advanced purchase discount. which I havent heard ye or no yet, does anyone know?

Its $366 w no discounts.

probably doesnt change anything, but it is a bit of a savings
