AP vs. AAA in February-HELP?

My husband and I have been planning his 30th birthday (well I surprised him) so I have been planning since last year and we are going Feb 9-21st. We booked with AAA because the BRP rates weren't that great, the discount was better through AAA. But now we are thinking of upgrading one of our passes to AP in order to get the better rate-but we don't know what the rates are without the AP! (And WDW Travel isn't very helpful with this). Can anyone look into this for me-I would be SOOOOO grateful:

Feb 9-15th Grand Floridian Standard room
Feb15-21st AK-Savannah View

I just need to know the nightly rate in value season w/ an AP.

There was no availability at GF for the dates you listed.

For a savannah view room at AKL from 2/15-2/21, the total cost (with tax) would be $1438.44, so $239.74/night inclusive of tax.

I will keep playing with your GF dates to see if there is a certain day causing you trouble.

We stayed at the AKL for my DH's 30th b-day last April - they made it so special!

There is no availability for 2/9, nor for 2/14.

From 2/10 through 2/12, you could get a LV room for $390.26/night. On 2/13, there is only lodge concierge available at $451.58. No standard room availabilty.

We are paying a total of 1472 for AKL after AAA discount and another discount Guest Relations gave us for being treated poorly by WDW Travel (long story but they basically ruined the surprise for my husband) and we are paying 1967 at GF with the 2 discounts. So I guess that's about 327 a night at GF and 245 a night at AKL.....It may not be worth it to pay the extra amount for the AP to get 40 more dollars off-we'd end up paying more for the AP. What do you think?

I plan on telling AKL about my husband's 30th about a week before we go...any suggestions on what to say? He's also a former CM so I think I'll mention that too...I just want it to be perfect

It sounds like you've got as best a deal as any with the discounts you currently have - and since they're all booked and you know the availability is there, I'd stick with them!

AKL was great about DH's birthday. Of course, you should never go in with expectations that Disney will do anything free for a birthday, but they added some nice touches to our celebration. I had noted on our reservation that it was his b-day (also did this at all the restaurants), and he got a b-day card from Mickey, a small cake, and a safari Mickey figurine shortly after we checked in. It was totally unexpected, and was a surprise he'll always remember. I also had ordered a gift basket for him, and that was waiting in our room upon check-in. We found the CM's there to be so nice - the chef at Boma gave us a special dessert one night, too.

You can order some cool things through the bakery at AKL if you wanted to be sure that there is something special waiting for him one day/night. Although the person that did my DH's basket is no longer doing them, I hear you can also order a very nice basket from the Disney Florist. I don't have their contact info., but I know I've looked them up before on the web.

Thanks for the info-I can't wait to get there!! Sounds like you had a great time-I will call about 5 days before to let them know about the birthday and maybe they will surprise us! If not, we are still at Disney so it won't matter-it will still be fun!!! 27 more days to go!!!!
