I was wondering if we could by a 10day park hopper and use 3 days on it. Could we trade the rest in for AP and just pay the difference. If so when would our annual pass start? Would it start on the first day we used the 10 day phopper or when we first use the AP?

I think if you do it within 7 days of using the parkhopper, you can get full credit, but it is backdated to the first day you used the hopper. If you used water park days, I believe you can only trade for a premium AP.

One thing to consider, the value of days 4 to 10 can be very low. It's not the total divided by 10, parkhoppers are priced so that most of the cost is in the first days.

Correct except that the time frame is 14 days from first use, not 7.

You are talking about the now discontinued formula for applying dollar credit to transactions. This is no longer applicable on anything. Disney has all but eliminated dollar credit transactions. If the OP does the upgrade within the allowed 14 day window, the entire purchase price will be applied towards the AP regardless of how many days have been used within that time frame. The expiration date of the AP will still be backdated to the first use of the MYW ticket.

What if you have a no expiration park hopper with days left? Can it be traded in for a partial credit or no?

Once your MYW ticket is past the 14 day from first use mark, it can no longer be upgraded. Whether or not it has no expiration on it makes no difference. The no expiration option only guarantees that your unused admissions will not expire, not that you can circumvent the upgrade rule. Maybe Disney will come out with a new added cost option for that in the future. ;)

We were permitted to upgrade old partially used PHs to APs in Dec. of '05.

However, we were advised that that "accommodation" would be no longer granted beginning in '06.

Odd thing is that we were told by CM that they only give you the value of the amount you actually paid for the tix (if you bought thru a broker @ a discount, you'd only get the reduced amount you originally paid).

Ok, So you are telling me that I can't. I just paid for my extra days vacation that we could find availablity at DVC resorts and I just got a 1day base ticket that I was planning on upgrading to an AP. ???????? I really need some that has done it lately that I can do this. Thanks everyone

Why don't you just buy the AP? Or are you reserving from CRO and want to get the dining plan? Rooms with points do not require a ticket purchase to buy the dining plan.

You are correct I could find DVC rooms available for 5-8th so I had to book at AKL and we don't have AP's yet and we want the dining plan so we just got 1 day base tickets and DDP

When I was considering booking a pkg for Oct. (just to be able to purchase the DP) for our 2 nights @ CR; AAA & WDTC both told me an unused 1 day base tix (or any unused MYW tix) can currently be upgraded down the road toward a "better" tix, including APs @ the gate.

BTW, you can change your tix choice after the cancellation period has kicked in, they just ask that you do so ASAP.

there was a thread a few months back on the resorts board as to whether you could get the MYW tix NOT placed on your room key. Might want to do a search or post, I'm sure someone would remember, good luck.
