I know this has probably been asked a million and one times but...I am contemplating upgrading my 3 day hopper to a Deluxe AP in June...I want to make sure I am understanding how to do this correctly.

I paid $186 for my hopper, will I pay additional $143 to upgrade? And if so, I need to do this at City Hall on my first day visit or???

Thanks in advanced!

I didn't check your math, but you will pay the difference between the AP and the price you paid for the PH. Before you upgrade make sure to use your Magic Morning (not available to AP holders) unless you are staying onsite anyways. Also, check the block out dates to make sure you don't have any during your trip. If you do you can upgrade ON a block out day and be able to use your pass without a block out ticket. Other than that upgrade as soon as possible so you can take advantage of the AP discounts. You can upgrade any day of your trip as long as it is before you leave the parks on your last day.

1. visit the guest servies window or the AP processing center, not City Hall
2. It doesn't have to be on the first day, as long as it is before you leave the park on the last visit.
ALSO, you might need to remember the exact dates you have used your ticket! We got the third degree once when upgrading because my DH and I couldn't remember exactly which day he had first used the ticket. It was six weeks ago!! I finally asked if she could just look at my AP since we aklways came together, and that satisfied her.

Thank you for your quick response! We won't be taking advantage of the MM as my Aunt (A.K.A. Disneyland Partner in Crime) is already an AP holder, she will be going with me this trip. And we don't have any block out dates as we had already checked for her when we booked the hotel. So I am good to go!! Thank you Shannon :)

Good to know! Thank you!

Bypass Guest Services and go straight to an AP center. Guest services may be able to upgrade it, but you'll still have to get your picture taken at the AP center so why wait twice.

Thank you so much for the info. I am new here, about an hour ago, (before I got side tracked) I was trying to figure out how to start a new thread just so I could ask this very question. My goal was to purchase a 3d PP for the MM and upgrade to an AP after using my MM, but wasn't sure if that was feasible.

you are all much appreciated!:cheer2:

I just want to add while there is an AP center in DL near Coke Corner, the hub end of main street west side. In DCA inside the Greeetings from California store is an AP center with little wait in comparison.

Also make sure you notice the remarks above about blackout dates.

Ummmm, if your DH used his ticket 6 weeks before there's no way it would be good for use or upgrade.....DL tickets expire 14 days after your first use.

OP go to the AP processing center, go later at night or first thing in the morning. We've had good luck with those times of day. :) If you've had an AP in the past 2 years you won't need a new photo. And since the new APs don't have photos on them the photo is for their internal use and who cares what it looks like. LOL Enjoy your new AP, we are getting ready to use our on Monday! :) :)

Thanx skiingfast. I had already checked out blackout dates, but had no idea where the AP centers were. :)

Yes, just as of sunday they opened the payment plan to all californias.

Also, I think you're math isn't right, because the price of the Deluxe APs just went up by $50, so I think you need to plan to add $50 to the upgrade cost, per AP.

Yes, now my math is incorrect because the original post was before the price increase ;) Thank you for the confirmation on opening the payment plan to all CA residents! I thought I was nuts before, thinking to myself why didn't I see the payment plan option before?!?

Glad that Nor Cal residents count now, too :rotfl:
