Ap Resort Discount

Does anyone know why WDW does not have a firm policy of mandating to the CMs that they MUST check APs at check-in before honoring the AP discount?I have used the AP rate 3 times and was never asked to produce my AP.The AP rate involves a significent amount of money.I don't think it is out of the question that people have booked their room with the AP rate without buying an AP,knowing that they will probably not be asked to produce one at check-in.To me, this seriously de-values my AP,knowing that some people may be using the AP rate without buying an AP.I just don't understand this situation.

I think you are in the minority if they haven't checked to be sure you have an AP, but maybe it happens a lot. I have used one for years and am usually asked to produce it. Whether or not you are asked for it is not really the important aspect of this issue IMHO. A person would have to be quite a gambler to book an AP rate and not show up at check-in with it. I doubt it happens very often, as that person would then have to pay the rack rate for the room. Worst case scenario is the person would not have a room available, as that room was blocked out for AP use. As I said, you would have to be a major risk taker to try this

I cannot answer that question, as I do not work for Disney, but it does somewhat cheapen the AP for the people who buy them to get resort discounts. I do agree with you on that.

This question has come up before recently just as you expressed it. Do what is right, and you will have no worry for yourself. You cannot spend time worrying about what others are doing. After all, look at all the time you can spend in WDW with that AP! I will have mine in hand when I check in. As for myself, it would be excruciatingly humiliating to be asked for something required for check in that I didn't have. Be safe and not sorry. Let the others do what they want and know that you won't be nervous at check in like they will be.

I am usually not asked for my AAA card at hotels, but I always have it with me.

I have used AP discounts, postcard rates, AAA discount at the WDW and have never once been asked to prove I have an AP or show the postcard etc... This past trip I had an AP rate and after check-in the CM asked if I wanted to buy passes. I then reminded him that we were Annual Passholders and showed him an AP.

Im not a AP yet- but a Fla resident and they always ask for my Fla ID upon check in.

Does anyone have an email address where we could start sending them letters as AP holders expressing our frustration with their not always checking for an AP?
Since APs are so much money the resort discount benefit is quite a perk, and if people are using the discount without purchasing an AP that's just ...not fair!!
If enough AP holders expressed their frustration maybe they'll start checking for APs, it sure wouldn't take long.

I too am a Florida Resident, and we are ALWAYS asked to produce a Fl. Drivers License upon check-in. Since they always ask for Fl. ID, I wonder why they don't always ask to see the AP's??
