AP reservations and lightening lane multi pass

Hello!

New AP.
I have an Epcot reservation which we will use just to walk WS for a bit as it is our arrival day-no rides. I want to purchase LLMP to be able to prebook rides for AK later in the day.
I just realized I am probably not able to do that, correct? I will need to have a reservation for AK which means I will not be able to go to Epcot earlier in the day?

You can book for AK, even with an Epcot reservation.

The only way park reservations come into play for APs with LL is that if you have no park reservation at all for that day, you can't book any return times before 2pm. However if you have an Epcot reservation you'll be able to book for any available time you plan to be at AK - no 2pm restriction.
