AP renew price

Thanks for jumping in Metro! :)

Thing is judging by this years black out dates we would be fine with that.
We aren't local so I know the dates we will be in town and the only time that clashes with the black outs is around the Christmas holidays and quite honestly I am not bothered about being blacked out at that time.

I'm almost thinking about dropping to two power passes and with all that money we save paying for valet wouldn't really be an issue.

If we decided to upgrade next year though to say two Preffered passes, would we still get the renewal rate for the higher pass?
It sounds like the Power Pass would suit you best which will definitely save you lots of money. You have 30 days to renew for the same discount so you should probably get the renewal rate as long as you're in the time frame. If you're paying monthly, you would need to cancel and start over. It can get really tricky.

Is this block out calender correct?

It only list IOA as being blocked out July 2nd - 14th otherwise it shows summer as open?
It looks like they took out a lot of blackout dates. I guess it was last year when they blacked out the entire summer for IOA but it appears they've changed it.

Thanks Metro for all your help and sound advice.

Interesting about those black out dates. I suppose worst case scenario, they black out dates for 2013 I want to go on and I will have to upgrade to a prefferred. I'm thinking saving all that money is the best way to go for us this year. Unfortunately we simply cannot afford $600+ on Premier's.

My DH and I have the Preferred Passes but I got the kids the Power Passes. We feel in love with Universal on our last trip and are planning on returning many times. So when it comes time to renew, you are saying that I can upgrade the kids passes to Preferred by paying that rate? That way we won't have to worry about black out dates. Thanks.

Unless you're paying monthly, you can upgrade your passes at renewal time. I'm not sure how the price is figured...I'm guessing the renewal rate of your current passes less the cost of the new pass but that's only a guess.

Look at doing what the Busch and Seaworld pass holders do. The parents get the annual pass because parking is included and the kids get the Fun Pass which is also for the year but doesn't have parking. For you, Preferred Passes for the adults and Power Passes for the kids. Just schedule around the blackout dates.
