Just got the email announcing new Annual Passholder discount rates for 4/17 to 7/4. There is NO MENTION of discount rates for the Deluxe resorts. The message clearly indicates Value from $74 and Moderate from $109, but the Deluxe category is not mentioned at all.

Could it be that the Deluxe resorts are not being discounted this time around?

EDIT: Just checked Mousesavers and they are reporting $100 off on Deluxe and Home Away From Home. That seems to be less than in the past. I'm also wondering if the rooms are in very short supply since the Deluxe category was omitted from the email announcement.

I think the emails are similar to the postards. They generally only mention one category, but say something to the effect that other resorts may be available at a discount as well. So I don't think we should read too much into the email.

That said, it does seem as though travel to WDw has picked up considerably. I believe Disney is offering fewer discounts this year as well as smaller discounts, and see this trend continuing. More of the marketing is focused on packages.

FWIW, I am old enough to remember when you had to book at least 1 year in advance and pay rack rates to stay on site. Looks like we may be returning to those days - glad I have DVC! :teeth:

Best wishes -

A flat $100 off makes the larger rooms less of a discount %. Last year I got a 1 bedroom at OKW for a Friday night for $270 plus tax. This year it would be $295. I got a member rate of $296 for May 7 (Saturday), I'll just keep that.

May is regular season this year. As I remember last summer deluxes were only a flat $100/off.

With regards to the email, it often leaves out a category or two. Sometimes it will even mention only one resort and say other resorts may be available.

I'm not calling yet because we still can't decide if we're going to WDW or somewhere else in May.

I thought buying DVC would stop me from going through the AP discount stress! Since we're in point debt already and DH & DS want to go to Star Wars weekends, I spent 48 minutes on hold trying for AP rates. Finally got CBR for 3 nights.

I really hope our add-on comes through soon!

BTW, in the resorts board, many people mentioned they were able to get AP rates at the deluxe resorts. Some people were told there were problems using the AP codes for deluxe. I really don't like that some CM's can't access them and some can. It doesn't seem fair.

When I talked to the CM this morning, she told me AP rates were not out past 4/16. After being on hold for 48 minutes, I was not going to accept that answer LOL I told her that they were out and she double checked. Sure enough she was able to find them and apply the discount to our ressies.

I called yesterday morning and was hold for 20 minutes. I was able to add rooms on the weekends for my June 3rd through 12 th trip. I was able to book AKL savana and the CR tower, each for weekend stays and with the AP discount! :cool1:

I added two nights at SSR Studio in June. I had those two nights for a DVC cash reservation, but the AP rate was a little bit better. They said they could NOT link the reservations, but would note it on my DVC points stay.

I called yesterday afternoon for rooms at POFQ. I waited about 20 minutes. We trying it out before we check into BWV.

The AP rates were lower last year. We got the CBR for $79 a night last year for the same time period. This year the moderates are $109. But... any discount is better than no discount. :cool1:

I remember this too! Even booking a year or more in advance didn't always get you all of the nights you wanted! I clearly remember staying downtown for a couple of nights because the Contemporary was sold out. Of course the only other choice was the Poly and that too was full! (The campground was open at this time as well.)

We scheduled AKL standard for July 4th weekend for $139/night. They did have savannah view also for $219. Definitely not as good as last year...that's one reason we bought DVC!
