AP Rates for summer?

What's up with the summer ap rates? This is starting to drive me crazy! We are going to have to start finallizing our ressies, and figure out just where we are staying for sure. (think its changed about 8 times already). (still hoping for cr tower/ bc). With the economy problems I can't believe we are still waiting?

Anyone hear anything from cro yet? thanks, MKY (looking at a lot of snow here today)..

I agree 100%. After Eisner rang the bell at the NYSE yesterday it was annouced that the advance bookings are down at WDW due to war fears. After that announcement the share price finished the day $1 lower. The people at WDW hotels reservations should stop the game and release the AP and discount rates now!!!

My opinion is Disney is waiting to see what happens in the next couple of weeks. I think that they might feel if we don't go to war then bookings will pickup without any discounts. If we do go to war I bet they will probably offer big discounts. Just my opinion.

I heard there wouldn't be any really big discounts this summer. Maybe something later this spring similar to the AXA (?) code they had out for May-June.

I would say your opinion is very accurate as to what is going on. Disney at times has offered fewer discounts and closed off certain areas of the resorts. To them it was more cost effective to have fewer rooms open booked at higher rates, than to have more rooms open at lower rates. I hope I explained that correctly.

If and when AP rates come out, I don't expect them to be any better than current code discounts.

Call me crazy, but perhaps the advance bookings are down because they're taking so long to release the codes.

*Sigh* Disney have already lost two of my 7 nights- I've just booked Portofino Bay for my first two nights. How come they can release discounted rates now for August and Disney can't?

My T/A just said that she thought since the AX codes at the Polynesian for concierge rooms in May are sold out when I am going, 4th-11th, that she doesn't think any rooms in concierge will be available at the AP rate when they are released. Boy am I disappointed. Especially since I had an AX code for the Gardenview Concierge and my husband got laidoff so I switched to regular room. Well we got a nice tax refund and my husband found a new job so we decided to switch back and the rooms are gone.
This was our 20th anniversary trip. I hope something opens up. If not I guess it wasn't meant to be.

I just upgraded today, 3/8/03, to Poly lagoon view concierge for 4/30-5/7/03. I used the AXA code and nothing was said about rooms being sold out?!

Until the economic slump began a couple years ago, AP rates for summer were never available this early. We've booked heavily discounted rooms (sometimes AP, sometimes some other discount) for the last week or May or first week of June (moved trip to July, though, last year) the past four years. Only once (last year) had I gotten the discount by mid March. There's still plenty of time for good discounts for the summer. If you go ahead and book, just make sure to make it room only so you can cancel if something better comes along.

I just got a suggestion to try and switch my stays at the two hotels I am booked at to see if I can get the discount on the gardenview concierge. Wish me luck. I am emailing my DU angel Michelle.

123 JOANNA, You made us remember the beauitful room we had at PBH, the deluxe villa with the huge bathroom! Just booked 2 of our nites with entertainment rate too, for august! See you there. Going to go in the middle of our disney trip. It will probably be the cheapest room rate I get!
