We are going to Pop in less than 3 weeks :cool1: We booked with an AP rate, however we dont have the AP yet. since we will be using our GAD voucher and upgrading it to an AP. Is there any way they will let me check-in at Pop without showing the AP?
In an ideal world, I'd like to check-in at the resort and un-pack the car before getting to the park since we plan on staying pretty late that night. But if there is no chance they will let us check-in without the AP then we'd just go straight to the park.

I think you will need the AP or at least an AP voucher to get the AP rates at check in. You could stop at Guest Services in DTD to upgrade your ticket then go to the resort for check in.

We are planning on doing the same thing. The way I understand it is that you can let them know that you will be purchasing the AP that day, and as long as you come back to the front desk with an activated pass you will get the AP rate. If you don't come back with the AP, they have the right to charge you rack rate.

I don't think that you can upgrade a GAD pass at DTD because you will need to actually enter a park, and then upgrade at Guest Services later that same day.

First, I'll say that I don't know anything about official Disney policy, or what CMs are supposed to do under these circumstances!

But we did this exact same thing in March (upgrade GAD to APs and then check in using AP rate), and here is what happened to us:

We arrived at BC around 8am. The CM at the door greeted us and directed us to check-in. I told her that we needed to go over to EPCOT first to get our APs, because we were getting an AP rate on our room and we thought we need to show our APs for check in. She said that was not necessary.

I just wanted to be sure (and beat any crowds at the ticket windows, so we did go ahead to the IG entrance at EPCOT first to upgrade our GADs to APs. At the guest relations/ticket window outside the park, we redeemed our GAD vouchers, upgraded to APs and bought a TIW card. We did this all at once without entering the park (it was not open yet!) and the CM was very efficient and organized. (We also have friends who upgraded GAD to 5-day passes at MK and they did not have to enter the park either.)

We returned to BC to check in with our APs, and the CM at check-in did not ask to see it. I offered it at the end, and he looked at it. In the end, I was glad I had it, because I had read in several places that I needed it for check-in.

So I'll end by saying I don't know Disney's official policy or CM practice regarding any of this, but I hope this might help!

I have used a Passholder rate for MULTIPLE trips to WDW and have NEVER been asked to produce my AP.:)

Don't bring up the subject if the Check-In Cast Member doesn't.:)

If they happen to ask,the worst that can happen is that you will be asked to drop back by later and show your activated AP.:)

I used an AP rate in Dec & Feb & they didn't ask either time to see my AP. They never even mentioned that I had an AP rate....they just told me what I owed and checked me in. :goodvibes

I checked in at Pop and the CM asked to see my AP. It had expired 2 days earlier, and I told her that we were going to be renewing as soon as we got to the park. She told me I had to come back by the end of the day and show my new pass or I would have to pay rack rate.

I have stayed at Pop numerous times and that was the first time anyone actually asked me for it and to be honest, the first time that I ever checked in with an expired pass! I thought maybe she could see it in the computer or something, but then I always have that kind of luck! So, I would just be prepared to show it as soon as you return for the day.

We use APs and have been asked to show them at check in. Our Aunt and Uncle always stay deluxe and they also have been asked to show their AP. So, I guess it doesn't matter the level you stay.

When our Aunt was checking in at the BC on their last visit, someone else was checking in that had booked an AP rate, but couldn't show an AP. They were told to come back within 24 hours to show the AP or be charged the rack rate.

Here is the policy that I have been told, If you have a voucher you can show it at check in but the resort can require you to come back before you check out and show them the actual AP or you can be charged non AP rates.
