I received a postcard in the mail reminding me that my AP is up for renewal in January. The postcard says I can save $47 if I renew it now. Would that $47 be in addition to the DVC discount I get or do I have to pick one or the other?

There is no such thing as a "DVC Discount" related to any Annual Passes (No matter what Member Services says).

There are three separate categories (or price ranges) of Annual Passes. The lowest price range is for Florida Residents. There is a higher price range for DVC Members. And the highest price range is "Tourist", which is people who do not qualify for either of the other categories.

And of the 12 possible DVC Member AP types, only one is exactly a $100 difference. The price difference ranges between $35 and $125.

Regular and Premium Annual Passes have the same privileges, no matter which price range they are in.

If you go to the locked sticky Everything About WDW Tickets in the TPA&S Forum, Post #18, you can get all the prices. An easy way to get to the sticky is by clicking on the link in my signature.

Thanks Cheshire. I think my brain may still be on BF overload and it's not sinking in. The price for DVC renewal (reg., not premium) is $354. The postcard I got says renew and enjoy a $47 Passholder renewal savings.

When I look at the renewal costs and the reg. costs on the chart, none match up to the $47 difference. I was trying to figure if the $47 is off the $354 amount or $354 alerady incorporates the $47 discount. (Geez, I'm confusing myself).

I'll be there from Jan. 5-10. My pass expires on 7th, so I'll need to purchase a ticket for Jan. 8-10. I'd want a hopper, so looking at a 3-day hopper, the price comes out to roughly $275. For another $75 I could renew the AP.

I'm not sure if I'll be back to WDW again this year (if so, likely only for a short trip). But it may be worth putting out the $75 just in case. (of course that's always a good reason to return, too!;) )

I think they goofed and did not change the form letter from last year. The difference between an new and renewal adult DVC AP is $45. I don't have last year's chart handy, but the difference may have been $47.
