AP Question (kind of silly)

This may be a bit silly so bear with me...

Would it be cheaper to buy an AP and then use the AP discounts for a deluxe room in July than opposed to buying MYW tix and booking with a discount like AAA?

Example: (for two adults, no dining)

1 AP
1 8 day MYW w/hop
8 nites at a deluxe (with AP discount)

OR

2 8 day MYW w/hop
8 nites at a mod (AAA rate for end of July beginning of Aug)

I don't think we will be returning to WDW this year, however we will prob go next year (and then I can get the renewal rate)...is it worth the discount on the hotel???

Your best savings will be if you can return next year 1 week earlier (get 16 days out of the pass) and get discounts. It's really hard to tell until they release AP discounts (if they do) for your resort. You can than also spend $60 for the Disney Dining Experience to make the value of the AP better for you

Thanks for the reply. I realized that the AP is good for one year from activation (which wouldn't be until end of July for us) so we would def use it by end of July 2007. I am going to check historical AP rates for the time we want to go and if it works out I think I will purchase AP and then the DDE too. I can't believe how much you save with the AP!

Do you happen to know if they give AP rates for the summer months since those tend to be busier times?

Summer is actually value season..It's the cheapest time of year to go..LAst summer AP rates were around 25% off for deluxe resorts..I had booked with a good AP discount but an even better military rate came out.. I'm pretty sure there have been pretty decent AP rates for at least the last few summers
