AP/PAP Question

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I hope someone can help me.

I currently have 5 day park hoppers (with plus options)- 2 of the days were used. With the new discount on AP's that is offered for DVC members, I am thinking of going to an AP or a PAP, because the discount makes it attractive.
Does anyone know if I can upgrade the park hoppers and combine them with the DVC discount for APs? And how does this work?

I haven't done this recently, but did it years ago. They prorated the days left on our old pass and took that amount off our new passes.
