If one is not a DVC member, and paying cash for a stay (especially for weekends--even if one were DVC...using points would be crazy), are there any prospective discounts applicable for this resort in July (mainly pre-fourth)? AAA, AP, or Fla Resident, Disney Visa, etc? Has there been such discounts for this resort in the past? Each time I phone the number given (1-407-934-7639) to check, the CM informs me no such discounts are available for DVB resort. They are only applicable in Orlando. :confused3 I surely thought there would be Florida Resident or other discounts which could be used when reserving on a rack-rate cash basis. Any information on this is greatly appreciated! Thank you. :goodvibes

I don't recall ever hearing about AAA, AP or Florida resident discounts for VB. Believe there have been Disney Visa offers (isn't one right now) and the Birnbaum WDW guidebook used to have one. Don't know if it still does because I haven't seen the latest edition - look in the very back of the book if you have one. When there was a Birnbaum offer, it had black out dates (don't remember what they were) and different % off, depending on the season.

The only other discount I know about is the Member cash discount, but that is only available to members and the member must actually be staying in the room to get it.

HTH.

I think I've seen a postcard rate for VB way back, but always off season. I would think a discount around the 4th would be pretty hard to get as the place usually is full. For that matter, a reservation may be a challenge that time of year.

Thank you for your replies. You are both correct, Zero discounts and ZERO availability at the DVBR. Should I call back and check periodically (as people may cancel as the dates near)? Even the rack rate of $325 is a bargain, for the size of the accommodations and amenities offered. :goodvibes

TIA! :wave2: :wizard:

Yes - call back periodically. Often cash availability increases as the date approaches. VB DVC members may use their points to trade "out" of DVC - that means DVC has to turn their points into cash by renting out the equivalent number of nights for cash.

I had no idea! :confused3 I will definitely call back and inquire. Is there any day of the week which is possibly better than another (using this approach)? I am missing a couple of days from our stay (waited too long to call), and now find there is ZERO availability. It's in the "middle" of our stay, so perhaps if I'm unable to find anything, I can wait until we arrive and speak with management. Sometimes, people fail to show...or cancel at the last moment. We may be able to add the two eves this way (if nothing else opens between now/then). Thank you, again. I appreciate your time and assistance. :cloud9:

Not crazy, just a heck of a lot more points if cash reservations aren't available! ;)

We always go at Easter and it is usually sold out. I overheard a similar request the week after Easter and I don't think the person trying to extend had any luck. But, you never know.

On one of our trips, we used points for a Friday night in a Beach Cottage. We rationalized it by adding up the total points and dividing it by the number of nights there, so it didn't seem so bad. Have you checked to see if any nights are available via points? (I'm assuming you are renting for your weeknights?)

Good luck. I hope it works out and like you said, you can always ask when you get there. I guess I would have a plan "b" just in case it never opens up though. Also, would you consider moving to an Inn Room, if available?

No special day (or time) that I know of that is better than any other to call to check availability for cash. Just call when it's convenient.

Hope you get the days you need.

I booked awhile back for June and the got the Birnbaum offer. Don't remember the specifics, but I was happy!
