AP holders, what's your best rate for AKL CL?

...Anyone know what the AP rate has been for value season for AKL CL? Has there been much availability? I'm just wondering what the absolute best rate is for around August?

I paid 206 a night over Thanksgiving weekend (Sunday onward) for AKL SV CL. This is before taxes and was part of their current room promotion. Per the CM I booked iwth, AKL CL is so hard to get b/c the price diff between SV CL and SV is minimal most just upgrade to CL

Last year I had a reservation for AKL CL for 1/27/09 to 2/3/09 with AAA discount. When AP rates came out on 10/30/08 I could not get it on my AKL CL room. I was trying to decide what to do-switch to SV, switch resorts,... I had been tellling my oldests DD that I was taking that we were going to Pop and I was going to surprise her with AKL. Then I heard rumors of the 4/3 deal and I decided to just ask her where she wanted to go and she said she had no interest in AKL. I ended up booking Poly GV instead with 4/3 deal. This was far better than AP because I could buy just 1 day tickets and I got the $200 gift card.

Then I took DS May 2nd to 9th. I was able to book AKL CL with 4/3 deal. This was a better deal than AP and I could book it when the deal came out in November. My AP expired 5/1 so I just bought 8 day tickets for that trip. I never did check to see if there was availability when AP rates did come out for May.

Now I am taking my youngest DD for her 7th birthday 1/20 to 1/27. I did have AAA on the room as soon as AAA rates came out for 2010. I was paying $2,343 for the 7 nights with AAA. When I heard about 4/3 on the Dis I called to book it. I read it was coming out on Monday but when I checked at 7am they said it wasn't out. I checked at work about 8:45 and they said it was "almost" out but I had a 9am meeting. I had a break from my meeting at 11am and called then. While on hold I read that someone was told 4/3 wasn't good on CL rooms but I still tried. I was so excited to get it!!!! It brought my cost down to $2,021 so even though I have to buy 4 day tickets I'm still saving over $300 than I was paying and I'll have about $465 worth of tickets to use in the future.

When the deal came out the WDW website I was NOT able to get AKL CL so thanks to the Dis for the heads up. It would be $1,841 for AKL SV with 4/3 so it is about $180 more for CL or about $25 more per night. I'm pretty sure by the time AP rates come out for January I won't be able to book AKL CL with it. I did calculate that if the AP rates were the same this year as they were last January then I would save about $40 over the 4/3 deal but then I wouldn't have the $465 worth of tickets to use in the future. AP rate would be about $250+tax. I'm paying $200+tax on the room with the 4/3 deal.

We go during Value season so there should be availability, I hope, as Disney threw us a curveball and extended FREE DINING, which I HATE, for our travel dates of 11/29-12/5! We beat POP Warner, but Disney struck back at us with FD. Touche Disney. The struggle to find lower crowd levels will continue in 2010.

That is Standard View you have for $139. Savannah view would be $204 at AP rate and CL would be $244 if you could have gotten it with AP discount. Have you had luck upgrading to CL at check in in the past at AKL?

I've gotten an upgrade from standard-view to savanna-view 100% of our past trips as we always go 2nd week of December. Since FD was introduced this year during our dates I don't know if I'll get that upgrade. If we don't, no biggie. We've been there so much that it won't affect us in the least. The CL rooms I hope will be available as usually the FD or 4/3 crowd generally tend to book lowest rates which are generally SV rooms, for the most part. I hope there will be CL rooms available at check-in to try them out. We did WL with the $139 rate 6 weeks ago and got the free CL upgrade so now I think we may be spoiled. It's a nice convenient feature to have, but I would never pay rack for it.
