AP Discounts?

I have a question.

From what I understand they do not release AP discounts very far in advance. My first question is about how far in advance are they released? My second question is does anyone know about how much the discount would be for a January trip? I just want an idea, I have no idea, so any and all information would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much!

I'm curious about this too. I've been thinking about getting an AP and it seems I remember them releasing some discounts in May.

They tend to release the AP resort discounts every four months so for January the discounts wouldn't be out until sometime in September. What you can do if you have a specific resort that you want to stay at is book your room now and then as soon as the AP discounts are released call back to CRO and have them rebook it under the AP rate. I'm not 100% sure how that would work if you are booking a package but we've done a room only ressie that way before.

In my experience Disney usually has two discounts out at a time. For example they have one that ends Aug 14th now and one that ends Oct 2nd. So when the first one ends, the next one will be released (it will probably go from Oct to Christmas with Thanksgiving week omitted.) Then when the second one ends the one for January will be released. We always use our AP discounts, but we are flexible about dates and resorts.

Our experience is the discount is usually between 35% and 40%. But they have been changing seasons on me, so who knows!

Don't you have be a DVC member or Florida resent to get an annual pass?

Nope. Anyone can purchase a regular Annual Pass. Disney actually boasts a majority of it's annual passholders are out of state visitors, where most other parks have AP holders mainly from locals and in state residents.

OP discounts for Jan will be out anytime from Sept-December. One year they did this wretched we will only release 30 days ahead of time program. It was a mess and very unpopular and only lasted half a year, but they did it so they could do it again. The only reason I bring it up is Disney swears they are going to cut discounts offered near the end of the year and for next year, but we shall see. For Jan I would look in the ballpark of having discoutns of 20/35/45 % off rooms, with blackouts for MLK week and Marathon weekend.
