AP discount rate for DVC members

If Disney provided a discount for AP what would be a reasonable discount

  • 10%

  • 20%

  • 33%

  • 50%

  • Discount 10% each year that a member continues to renew it until ten years then it is free

  • Buy one get one free

  • They should be free regardless

  • They should allow DVC members to purchase a lifetime pass

Any discount would be better than what it is now. I still claim they would sell more AP's if they discounted them for DVC members. We have AP's now but will skip next year after fitting three trips into this one. If there was a decent discount, we probably wouldn't do it this way.

From a pure business stand-point I can understand why DVC & Disney would not give us free passes. :(

But as a selfish DVC owner I look at it this way: The DVC owners are the ones who come every year and over a period of time spend the most. We spend a heck of a lot of money at WDW. I am sure they more than make back the cost of the pass for all the money we spend on food, drinks and Disney merchandise.

How many DVC members are there now? Over 60,000, right? Wanna bet they'd listen if we all started a major complaint campaign. I think they would have to, although I doubt it would be easy to get a lot of people to do this on a concentrated basis. :bounce: :Pinkbounc

if dvc could swing a 10-15% discount on aps I think that would be great and I'd be all for it. But i don't think that dvc should be the same as florida resident rates or resident seasonal passes or resident play for four days passes. Those rates are there as a thank you to the residents of florida. It is a special thank you for putting up with tourists all the time. A special salute. DVC made it clear in the contracts that owning dvc was not in iitself enough to qualify for florida resident rates at wdw, and basically wdw leaves it up to the state of florida to determine who is a resident or not (with the id cards). WDW or DVC doesn't determine that. So I think if you really want a florida resident rate you should just become a florida resident. If you feel that you are justified to being a florida resident or entitled to be one, then just become one. If you don't want to become a florida resident you shouldn't get that rate. Just imho. If they want to have a rate and call it a dvc discount or dvc pass that would be great I think. Maybe there could be a dvc seasonal pass that could block out the Oct., May, and the first week in Dec. when dvc'rs like to travel like the florida seasonal pass blocks out times when the kids are out of school.

I voted for the lifetime pass, but I do worry how much that could potentially be. But since it is something we can afford to get right now, I'd love to get that purchase out of the way now, like we did with our DVC membership. Then that's one less expense we'd have to worry about in the future - since we're going to be showing up there off and on for the next 40 years.

I'll vote for the 10%. Goodness knows, I wouldn't want Eisner to think he'd be losing money on my account! LOL

I voted for 10% but in my personal utopia I think it would be great if a lifetime family pass of some sort was available and could be worked into your DVC purchase...OR if it came free with purchase. Even if it was only for those people on the deed.

10% DVC discount sounds reasonable for new and renewal AP passes.

It would be nice if DVC members were eligible to buy either APs at the Florida resident rate or the FL resident seasonal passes.

I believe DVC should get at least a 20-25% discount and change the renewal policy back to your next trip.

The last time I purchase AP's for ourselves it was on a renewal discount and with the Disney Club discount combined. I lost 3 months use with the way the renewals now work but with the combined discounts I think it evened out.

I do not feel I will be purchasing AP's again. I believe we will be getting the # days pass for a specific time and try other parks or day trips around Orlando. The AP's are just to expensive for the number of days we go each year and as mentioned the renewal policy doesn't fit our use.

The renewal policy has made us think twice about buying APs. Now, we don't take advantage of the renewal discount and just buy new ones on the first trip after our old ones expire. Having APs make it easier for us to justify quick, unplanned trips during the year.

I voted 20%. I think 10% is just a tease, and really doesn't do much for the price. I think 20% is a good, reasonable number for Disney, and a number that we would recognize as a 'true' discount.

You have a really good point there. I know that we over look 10% discounts easily but then it states 20% we take a second look and seriously consider it.

i voted for 33%
i feel that discount should at least be equal to florida resident discount
i live in a tourist destination and NOTHING is discounted anywhere for the natives, and considering orlando isn't that far south in florida the argument that discount makes up for tourists causing discomfort to year round residents really isn't valid
We are a very large, affluent disney community and we should be appreciated for that, we are all truly committed to wdw, if i add up what iv'e spent since 89 on disney, add in my dvc memberhship , it's more than the down payment was on my first house

I voted the lifetime pass, but actually what I think Disney should consider would be a pass that would equal the number of years left on the DVC contract. And make the pass transferable so it can be willed, etc.

That way, the entire concept of "pre-paying" Disney vacations would be all rolled into one neat bundle.

10% is not enough off for the money we are spending. What is $30-$40 off for a ticket???? Not much. We have never bought AP's because we seldom go into the parks anymore. Just came back from a 9 days trip and went to the parks twice. Never left WDW property. Just pool hopped and relaxed. Ate in our room or at the resort we were swimming at. Disney isn't making much off os us these days. Now if an AP had a reasonable discount, that might be a different story.

The tickets we have currently are 7 days pluses. We bought them through a discounter. We went to the parks three our last trip and used 2 pluses. This trip we went to the parks twice and used the other 2 pluses. Our next trip we will just go to the parks twice and buy (using our DVC discount) a day at the water parks. That is 3 trips on a $300 ticket. Very little eating at the parks. Most of it in our room at OKW that we not purchased at WDW.

WDW is definitely not making $$$ on us like some others.

I am surprised by the number of members who would like a lifetime pass. Sure it would be nice, but does anyone want to take a guess at the price for a family of four? Even four 38 year passes to correspond with most DVC memberships... $40,000??? Much more for 50 years, and even more for true lifetime passes.
Yes, we will spend more than that in the long run, but it just seems like a lot-a loot! And what if tragedy strikes, and for whatever reason we can not use those passes in five years?

Great idea Granny! I Love it!

if tragedy strikes and i'm dead, take my ashes to splash mountain and take the top off the can as you climb for the drop and let the wind take me
or divide me up and spend the day park hopping and leave a little of me everywhere
