I have ordered AP with the DVC discount for my family :teeth: Have vouchers and will be collecting them on May 1st - our babysitter has agreed to come along and I have said that I will buy her an AP (non discount  ) - now my ? is this - I will be paying for this so can I get it on her behalf (with or without her ID) or does she absolutely have to be there - tried a search on DIS couldn't find anything definitive.

Thanks for your help

I'm not sure I understand your question. If you want to order a voucher for an AP, I believe you can do that from the Disney.com web site. You don't need to order a voucher though. You can get the AP right at one of the service centers at each of the parks or in DTD. She will have to be there with an ID to activate it, as will all of you. Any time you have a voucher, you have to exchange it for the real ticket at Customer Service, and you need the IDs for that. Each person has to activate the biometric reader the first time you enter a park, and that takes a few seconds longer the first time.

I'm not sure that she does have to be there as long as you have all her info including address and DOB.

I know that I have picked up renewal APs for my family members without them being there. Our first APs were some years ago but I don't remember having to show ids then or all of us being at the counter?

She will have to carry her id with her though in case there is a problem scanning at any time. Everyone with APs should always do that from what I understand.

Golden Oldie really knows her stuff about all manner of WDW tickets. I'd pm her or ask on the parks and attraction board.

You have answered my ? she needs to be there with her ID - we arrive late afternoon - we were going to leave her with the children so that they could nap before we all headed out for dinner - we were trying to save time by collecting all the AP's and DDE from Epcot before we went to DTD for dinner - the DDE needs to be collected from Epcot and can't be collected anywhere else. Guess we'll go to Epcot for dinner instead

Thanks

I think you CAN pick up renewals, but APs require an ID for the first purchase. We no longer do the renewal thing, because they start the clock ticking from the anniversary date, and that means we waste a lot of our pass time coming from so far away. We usually travel as much as possible in 366 days and then wait a year before buying a new AP.

Yep, I miss the old advantage of renewing. I also miss the Disney Club discount we got. It still usually works out for us to renew but from time to time we have let some APs lapse if that family member won't be back for some months. We'll probably let our DDs lapse after this trip. She will have two trips out of this AP but won't be going back until January we think so it will make more sense to just get a new one for her then.

And I am certain about the renewals as I picked up the renewal for DS! in Jan. and renewals for my DH and DD last summer.

And I am still almost certain that all five of us didn't have to go to the counter the very first time we exchanged vouchers. Perhaps vouchers v. actaul pass makes a difference although I can't imagine why? Or perhaps if a couple is there together, they do ask for both ids since you're there already. Have you ever tried and not been able to buy one for someone else?

LOL....when I was typing I remembered the old DC discount on APs but forgot about the MUCH better DVC discount we now get!

Speaking of which, renewing with the DVC discount provides such little savings over the cost of a new AP that it really makes sense to just buy a new one unless another trip is really close.

I KNOW we hd to show an ID when we got our APs last year. Never had to for the renewals, but we have had to for the vouchers. I remember having to give up my place in line so I could track down DH outside the restroom to get his ID!
