Hi all!

I have an AP and am a bit befuddled by the Best Rate program. We may be able to take a trip to WDW January 26- Feb. 1. Is it true that I needed to book 60 days out to get the AP rate on my trip? If I can't get an AP rate I probably won't be able to visit.

Thanks in advance!!

Yes, in order to obtain the BRP rate, you have to book your reservation at least 60 days in advance. If you were to book today, the earliest arrival date for the BRP rate would be Jan. 29.

I agree. We are staying at POR the 24th-Feb 1st and got a rate of $79. per night standard room. I think this is a great rate and you will pay much more for your rooms without your AP discount. Just be sure your dates are set.

If you booked today you still could make two consecutive reservations, one for 1/26-29 at rack rate and one for 1/29-2/1 at the BRP rate. I would call today between 2-5pm when they take BRP phone reservations and talk to a CM about it, or call a TA who specializes in Disney.

OUCH! Thanks for helping out guys! This throws a damper on our trip plans...

OK - This is what confuses me....

I get it now, that it has to be at least 60 days in advance. However, what if the BRP is not out yet? In other words, if I want to book for July, how do I know I'll get the BRP when the rates drop, if I book now?

When you book the BRP, you're guranteed to receive the lowest publicly-available rate that they offer. Many folks reported getting a rate reduction applied to their BRP reservations last month.

OK, so I could go ahead and book for July now?

Do I just go to the AP website, key in my AP number, and book it and wait for the rate to drop?

Yes. Just be aware that there is a non-refundable deposit, and there is no guarantee that a publicly-available discount will be offered.

Yup - I'm aware of that.

My thoughts were, to book Wilderness Lodge in hopes of an AP discount, and if one doesn't come out (which has never happened to me), then I could switch over to a Moderate.

boomhauer - I don't think you can book a best rates reservation for July yet. I tried yesterday to book something for May and the AP website is displaying this message:

Currently this program is only available for arrivals through April 13, 2006.

Ok here is a spin on that... normally the AP & the FL discount were the same... if your a Fl resident, wouldn't it be easier to book that rate v/s the AP and you could bypass the 60 day out rule???

That's correct. The BRP is not available beyond April 13 yet. So if you book a rack rate even thorugh the AP site, that reservation technically is not BRP and therefore will never be adjusted to a lower rate. You can either go ahead and book that rack rate reservation and if/when BRP is available for July you could rebook at BRP and cancel the rack rate res. Or you could wait until BRP is available and just book at that time without bothering with the rack rate reservation procedure. Only downside would be if your preferred resort is not available with BRP and by that time also not available at rack rate. It's a gamble somewhat.
