I'm sure this is an old one...

We have our AP vouchers, and have heard mixed reports about whether you need an active AP when checking in for you AP rate. So we're going to play it safe an activate one pass before getting to POR.

Where at EPCOT would I go to activate the AP?

Thanks

You can go to the international gateway for activation or to the front of the park (before you enter) at Guest Services.
You can also activate them at Guest Services at Downtown Disney.
BTW, they have NEVER asked to see my annual pass when checking in.

I have always been asked for my AP when checking in but don't worry.... The one time it was packed away in my suitcase with the bellhop the CM just told me to return with it. Once we got settled I went back to check in and another CM noted it on the reservation. Evidently if I had not returned they would have charged me rack rate - don't want to find out!!

I am sure you can check in with the vouchers and if need be return with the activated pass. Unless its more convenient to activate it before checking (not for us) I would try using the voucher. I will only have the voucher myself when we check in in Feb so I will have first hand experience after that.

What if I don't have either, a voucher or an AP. I was going to upgrade a 4 day park hopper that hasn't been used yet to a AP once I got there. We are staying at the Swan with an AP rate. If I tell them I don't have the AP yet, will they just do the same, telling me to bring the AP back later once I have it.

good question, since the Swan is not owned by Disney, they may have different rules. If you have time, upgrade it prior to checking in. You can do this at the places I mentioned before.

The Disney Store sells annual passes, are these just vouchers that I have to exchange or are these actual passes. Does anyone here know?

In my experience the Swan and Dolphin are the most strict about having the AP at checkin. I have always been asked and the one time it was with my DH and the kids I was advised to go get it as they couldn't check us in at that rate without it.

It would be worth it if you can to activate the AP prior to check in. Its a great deal here, 1/2 price and a category upgrade with a late checkout if you like.

They are vouchers that have to be activated at a guest services window at one of the major parks or at guest services at Downtown Disney.

If bought at one of the Disney Stores in the Orlando airport, you receive an activated pass, not the voucher.

I am not sure that is a Disney Store. I believe it is called "The Magic of Disney"and "The Earport". But, you are correct, you do get an activated pass there.

So, could I go ahead and buy some AP's now for our trip next Dec. '04 ? And when the trip rolls around we just activate then and our year starts then on the passes?
If so, this would be a good idea to save $ in case of any price increases before next Dec.

As long as they are new and not renewals, yes, by all means buy them now and hold on to them until your trip in Dec'04.

Does anyone know if I can upgrade two 4-day PHs for 1 AP? A CM told my DH that we can, but I am still questioning the info. Does anyone know who else I can call with this question other than CRO? Someone who is more familiar with ticketing?

Only one ticket can be applied to an upgrade.

When there were double points on the Disney Visa a couple of months ago, I bought 4 annual passes and 4 PHP's while I still had the Disney Club discount and could earn double points. They don't expire so I was just going to put them away for future trips. Imagine my consternation with I found out that from Dec 1 though Dec 24 you get TRIPLE points on your Disney Visa for Disney store purchases! I am using 2 of the AP's next week but most everything else is for our trip in Nov. 2004. It's too much of a hassle to return them and repurchase so I'll just be happy with the double points and hopefully some of you all can take advantage of the triple ones.

Checked in at All Star Music back on November 21st with just the vouchers. The CM did ask for it by the way. We activated at MK Guest Relations window before opening and had no wait.
