AP 13 month Promotion

Here's the official word for new passes from WDWToday on Twitter:
Hi Christine! That an excellent question! We apologize for the conflicting information. You must purchase the Annual Pass certificate between now and January 3, 2017. You then have 18 months from the start of the promotion (which was yesterday) to activate the certificate to get the 13th month for free. So if you are planning on returning next October and activating your certificate then, you will be completely fine.

Perhaps I'm Twitter-challenged, but I can't find this response (and it also seems a bit long for Twitter). Can you provide a link to where you saw this? I want to screenshot it. Thanks.

So I should be able to purchase a DVC Gold Pass certificate and activate next May for 13 months? I have a DVC Gold Pass right now that expires 11/12/16 but I would rather buy and activate a new one for 13 months with a May start date than renew my current pass. Do I need to call DVC to purchase this pass?

This sounds good for me. I want to purchase AP while I'm down there at Thanksgiving by upgrading our park hoppers. We'd like to go at Christmas 2017, so it sounds like our APs would still be active.

I have a question for this:

If I bought a 7 day hopper Parksavers pass 2 weeks ago that I will not use until December, and I upgrade the pass to an AP after entering the park on December 7th, will the expiration date for the AP be 13 months from December 7th - first date of use of pass?(Jan 7th 2018)?

or will the expiration date be 13 months from the date I purchased the parksavers 7 day hopper( bought in September - so expiration date October 2017)?

Thanks!

Should be 13 months from the date of first use, assuming this works the way upgrades have always worked before.

It will be 13 months from the date of first use. AP bought over the phone/web aren't activated until you redeem them at the park (i.e. a year or in this case 13 months from 1st use). So converting a park hopper to an AP would be the same. That being said CM can and do make mistakes so make sure you verify your expiration date (will be in your MDE account) to correct in case of an error.

This is great news. This will be my first AP! Woo Hoo!

This is great news as that is my situation as well, except I am not upgrading until the end of my trip because of blackout dates. Yay for 13 montsh!

Great news. My Premier AP (all 6 parks) expired 2 days ago, but DH is buying me a new one for Christmas (I am not planning to hit either DLR or WDW until late January anyway). So we can buy a new Premier AP and get 13 months on it. But I thought the Premier passports were only available in person, not over the phone or online, so I guess I have to go to Disneyland (7 hour drive) to buy it? That's a bit of a bummer!

I renewed my annual pass about two weeks before they announced the promotion, but I haven't been there yet. At the moment I have a Platinum Pass renewal certificate and will be end of the month before I get there. Does this mean I will get the 13 month promotion? Does it still include Photopass?

I'll add my question here as well! I bought our two AP's on, I think it was 9/12 & 9/13, but won't be activating them until Nov 12th. So, from what I'm reading here it appears that we will definitely get that 13 months, and our AP's will be good until Dec 12th of 2017? Our situation is a little different this next year than how we usually do things and this would work out great! I'm really excited if this turns out to be that our tickets will be valid until Dec 12, and just had to throw my question in with others, just be more sure, lol! So if anyone, or even @ravenclawtrekkie can verify that this is how things should go, that'd be great! TIA!

I direct messaged the WDWToday twitter and got a similar response as noted above. I specifically asked about purchasing the AP and not activating it until September 2017 or perhaps even January 2018. The response I got indicated I should purchase the AP certificate during the promotion period (so before 1/3/2017) and then activate it within 18 months of purchase date in order to get the 13 months.

"Hi there! We would suggest purchasing an Annual Pass voucher. By doing this, you will receive the 13-month promotion but the Annual Pass will not immediately activate. The voucher needs to be activated within 18 months of purchase. Hope this helps!"

I got the same answer from WDWToday in a direct message, so I will ahead and purchase APs for our August 2017/2018 trips. We used to buy them every year, until DD14 entered middle school :upsidedow and now we go the same time each year.

So if I upgrade my 9day park hoppers while we are there at Thanksgiving will they let me purchase the voucher to activate later or is that different since I'm not buying them out right.

When you upgrade a ticket that has been used, the AP is automatically active as of the first day the ticket was used. If you are not using those tickets at all in November, you can get a voucher.

Thank You!! Okay that is what I thought, so unfortunately it won't take me to Christmas 2017 since my first day of use is 11/21

So I need to buy the voucher before January 3, 2017, but I want to activate it Dec 2017. Do I buy the voucher when I'm at the parks this fall? or Do I purchase on line? or by phone to

The response I got from Disney via Twitter for this situation was to purchase between now and Jan 3 and then activate within 18 months. If you purchase online, it will automatically be some kind of voucher that has to be activated at Disney. If you want to purchase at Disney, but not activate right away, I believe you need to make sure to specify you want to purchase an AP certificate. This will allow you to activate at a later time. So you can do online or in person, whichever you prefer. I'm guessing by phone would work the same as online, but don't know that for sure.

I bought my Gold passes online yesterday and all the paperwork I have printed (from the website and the confirmation) state "Passes are 13 consecutive months".
