We will be in the parks on July 4. Does anything special happen at DCA?

I was thinking of doing tomorrowland lounge for the 3rd or 4th. Has anyone actualy experienced it? Can you see the fireworks at all? I hate to admit it, but despite our many many trips, the only fireworks I have ever seen are the Halloween ones. Once! I have one kid in a wheelchair and one who can't handle people in his personal space (like at all), so even when we try there is almost always a huge meltdown. Any ideas to help them experience fireworks. It doesn't have to be a perfect view, but enough to make it worth staying up that late!

What about booking either concierge at DLH and watching from the lounge or booking PPH and watching from the pool deck. At least you'd be at your hotel and in the room quickly when it's over.

We are booked offsite. At the Fairfield. I could drag them outside onto the walkways to watch I suppose but I was looking to do it from within the park. Can you hear the music in the esplanade that goes with them? I am also wondering if anything special happens at DCA.

The DIS Disneyland team did a vlog on the Tomorrowland Skyline Lounge:

The fireworks were cancelled the night they were there, but it was some good insight.

I was wondering if the Patriotic Fireworks (as in the past) will be happening at DL ?? So far nothing has been mentioned for the holiday. (Not even on other sites)

Celebrate the Spirit of America

On July 4, 2017, enjoy a special patriotic salute before the start of each of the evening’s World of Color shows.

Beacons of red, white and blue illuminate sky-high fountains dotting Paradise Bay while a chorus of voices sings a moving tribute to our great land. Marvel as a montage of monuments shines across the towering mist screen. A finale of fireworks caps off the celebration just moments before World of Color begins.

For the OP:
How much space does your son require? When our youngest was having issues with the fireworks (he loved them, but had a LOT of fear issues which made viewing in the regular areas very difficult), we used to view from the Plaza Inn. We would get a table on the patio or in the solarium (on the Astro Orbitor end), get something to eat, then wait for the show to start. For personal space, inside seating might be easier. He could watch from the window and you could control the space around him. The only thing is I'm not sure the music is clear there. For that, you would have to sit outside. But if you got a table outside, you would be able to hear the soundtrack. He could sit and no one would bother your table. If you'll be at DL before the 4th, the special fireworks will show for a few nights beforehand so you could give this option a try if you think it might work. Hope you find something that works out for all of you so that you get to see your fireworks!

World of Color show usually does a little spirit of America dedication show added on BEFORE the regular show begins! Also there might be lots of spots around Downtown Disney to catch the fireworks BUT obviously not with the music.

Oops!! Really must read the post before mine cuz it was ALREADY mentioned!

I did it and the fireworks were canceled due to high winds. My take on it was that it was only fun because I went with a large group from meet up. We also brought more cheeses and crackers and had our own little party. I wouldn't do it again unless I was with a big group like that.

With the concerns you have for your children, it may be worth it for you. You'll have your own space (they showed everyone where they would sit, it wasn't choose your own). If the fireworks are going, you'll see them, but you won't see any of the projections. Your view is from the back of the Matterhorn. Mickey and Minnie came by and they stayed long enough that I think it would be worth it for kids who love character interaction. The food was meh (way too sugary) and most people in my group didn't eat theirs. Your kids can play Jenga and I think Connect Four. It is windy up there, but they bring blankets by. Hot drinks all had caffeine so those of us who can't handle caffeine at night only had cold drinks to drink.

In regards to the fireworks from DCA, you'd be hard pressed to see them from there, maybe the tippy tops of them. A lot of people like to watch them from the Esplanade (the area in between Disneyland and DCA). People will sit on the ground there and watch them. I watched the fireworks from there once on a date. Took my jacket off and set it on the ground for us to sit on, crushed it. :)
