Anything Negative to Say About ING?

I really love ING. My family has 5 accounts with them (which earned us a free $165). I don't mind that it is totally computerized banking but I can see how some might see that as a drawback. They do have good, live customer service on the phone.

If you go to my website and click the free $$$ link at the top you will see a little ING information page and it has referral info also.

Can you refer yourself? :confused3 I've really let my account just sit, but was hoping to try to set up another account for a future Mommy & Me Cruise. I hope this doesn't fall under the "no referral" guidlines! :)

I don't have anything negative to say about ING. Well, maybe the fact that you can't immediately withdraw your money if you need to but I have other savings accounts that if I need money, I can use those to get it. I kind of like that aspect of ING in a way though because if I had that easy access to my money, I'd have a hard time saving it! I love the high interest rate and I love watching my balance raise every payperiod...my next WDW trip is going to be awesome!

I was a little leary at first but knowing that ING is FDIC insured, set my mind at ease a little. And, hearing all the positive things on the DIS made me go for it. I even got BF to open an account as well!

My niece and nephew (19 and 20) have friends who work at ING - VERY SCARY!!! I know these kids, but I don't know if I want them to have access to my account... :rotfl:

Tonight I was all excited and telling my DH about ING.
I made the mistake of calling it an "online bank" and right away he says, "So all of our information will be floating around there in cyberspace? Won't that make it easy for someone to hack into our account info and drain the money?" How do I reassure him about this?

PS -I apologize if this is answered on the ING sticky thread. I'm slowly reading through it but I'm only on page 2, I think.

Open an acct for your child. They need to be the primary to get your bonus and referral, make yourself secondary on the acct. Im pretty sure once you have an open acct you cannot send yourself a referral to get another bonus.

Can you refer your spouse if you are both on the same checking account? What I mean is - I opened an ING account yesterday, linked to my checking account( joint account w/DH) but the ING acct is only in my name. Can I refer DH, linking his new ING acct to the same joint checking account already linked to my ING? Or do they need to be different checking accounts?

Also - for those that have referred your children, do you link their ING accts to your checking account?

Hope I haven't confused you!!

I have three accounts with ING: one for me, one for my dd, and a home equity line of credit.

I think the only negative might be that they want to be a paperless company so they insisted I have money from my Home Equity auto withdrawn. I don't like autopayments as a rule.

Otherwise I am very happy with ING. I can't understand why people aren't interested in it. There were a couple of people I knew singing the cash-poor blues and I explained ING and how they could easily make some cash while creating an automatic savings from their pay for whatever they want to save for and they cited, "I don't want another account."

I like having the separate accounts which are earmarked - keeping tabs on them is easier this way and I prefer having these accounts this way rather than passbooks at the bank.

My spouse and I have the same checking acct. I have my ING acct and then referred him, so we each have an acct with the $25 bonus and I got another $10 for referring him.
We have used the same e-mail addy and same checking acct for all of our accts. It really makes it a lot easier to keep up with them.

Thanks! Once my account is confirmed, I will go ahead and refer DH and the 3 kids too. What could be easier than making $165 for opening accounts? :teeth:

I've earned $130 from referrals on my immediate family only! Since then I deposit $10 a week. It's great, because if I had that $10 in cash we'd probably spend it on fast food. All that I save will go towards our meals and souvenirs on our trip.

I just signed up and am excited to start getting referals from DH and family. DH is hesitant to comit to a disney trip for oct but this will really help inspire him.

I just signed up with ING this week, and so far, I can find nothing bad to say about them! It was easy to set everything up, and I now plan on referring dh and ds, and starting accounts for them as well- it makes saving money painless!

Hello -

I opened an ING savings account a few weeks ago, I love it, but I did have one problem. Everything was going fine, then my bank denied one of the transactions. ING removed that bank account (for my safety?), and I had to send ING a check addressed to myself so they could get the account number off the check. Not a big deal, it took only 4 days to fix. Not a big deal, the free $25 made it worth my trouble :)

I have 3 ING savings accounts. I have had no problems. I did have to call the customer service once, I can't remember why but I know it was nothing to do with complaining. Easy to get through to them via phone as I recall.
Anyway, the fella that I spoke with was very polite and helpful.
I have automatic transfers set up every week into a retirement account for each of my 2 younger DD's and an "in case I ever need it" account for me.
We don't miss the money and I often forget about it, all the while the accounts grow. I recommend ING.

Maybe this will help one of you out there. I bought Tax Cut by H&R Block this year and there was a flyer. It states "Motivate your money with a $50 bonus from ING Direct" Go to website www.ingdirect.com/taxcut

It will ask for an offer code 58978755

Now I dont know if you can do referrals with this one or not. But hopefully it will help a couple of you out there!!

Yes, ING is FDIC. My DH asked the same question before I signed up. He freaks a little with online banking ~ doesn't want our bank info floating around in cyberspace, but the site is secure and FDIC insured.

Hmmm...

I'm going to receive $130 in bonuses for opening accounts for each of the FourFoxesInPa, AND I'm going to receive 2.35% instead of the laughable .25% that my kids are currently getting in their local bank passbook savings.

Pretty much a no-brainer. I'm so glad I joined my family up this week!
