Anyone's DH do something stupid finacially?

If the twins are anything like your others kids, you are going to have your hands full when they start walking at 6 months!

Here is a story
I was pregnant with my second daughter & saved up $500 to pay off husbands credit card off & told him that it was for emergency use only for after we had the baby. So one month before I was due he buys a $500 remote control race car! That can not be returned! Two weeks later I got in a car accident & almost lost the baby & totaled the car & could not work for months & had no credit card to fall back on! Thank god I had stocked up on diapers etc before the wreck!

This is one of many stories now his pay check goes into the bank & he gets cash only. He is not ALLOWED to use the bank card(just earned it back) or credit card without permission.

Oh dear this sounds like someting my husband would do!!! Right after our wedding I took over the money management! He's just a lay down the card and say toss the reciept kinda guy! Then when you ask him what he bought that day he forgets everything

So now he gets cash ONLY as he walks out the door and we round it to the closest dollar! Why?? Because he is ALWAYS losing cash! I swear we have made the one guy that follows him around rich!! He throws it in his millions of pockets and then when he pulls one bill out tons follow  He's a nut! But he's mine

DH and I have made lots of stupid mistakes over the years. :headache: It does sound like your DH put some thought into it though. I actually think it's kind of sweet. Although, I'm sure I'd have some choice words for DH if he did that without asking me.

I also wanted to congratulate you on the twins. My twin girls are now 8. We have had some challenges over the years, esp. in the very beginning when I was trying to get my bearings. (We also have a 10 yr. old DD. She was 22 months when they were born. There was lots of :laundy: LOL!) But, it is simply amazing watching them grow up and have that bond. Sometimes I get a little jealous because I know they have something that I will never be a part of. I think sometimes oldest DD gets a little jealous too! They are each other's best friend.

Good luck! Just remember to cherish each minute.

Not on the same scale as a SUV but DH is currently in the dog house over advertising for his business. His business is mostly word of mouth, newspaper ads, phone book....he's a handyman. Some radio ad guy finds him in the super pages and tries to talk him into radio ads during a sporting event....

..hubby being trained as well as he is of course asked me first and I said 'NO' very clearly and explained why radio advertising would not work for him..it just didn't make sense for his business and to only broadcast during a sporting event means only men were listening and 75% of the time it's the wife calling for help and half the time when the husband is calling you can hear the wife in the background telling him what to say...besides in his line of work people like the cards and the paper ads to refer back to...no need for a pen and paper at the exact right moment......radio isn't something they can hold in their hands and stick to the fridge.

Well the need to hear his name on the radio won(his ego is his worst enemy I swear) and he agreed to 6 broadcasts for $400...ughhhh August was a horrendous month as it was..I didn't need a $400 bill on top of his other advertising costs ...2 broadcasts down so far and not one call at least he only agreed to a half schedule and didn't sign up for the $800 package.

I used to sell Radio Advertising...and just so you know, that sounds like a really great deal! Which sport team was it?

Wow, and here I was peeved because my DH bought a Wii without telling me.

...I don't care if God himself comes to my door selling books - I'm not spending $475 on them!

If that is not an excellent tag, I don't know what is! :rotfl:
Thanks for the stories!!! I've been driving it around I feel like pimp daddy. It's an Escalade and he used his own money to pay for it.
Having read your explanation I get it a bit more, but I still would be quite irked! Hope that trust will provide gas for that big ol' car! ;)

If my husband traded MY car and didn't bother to ask me what I wanted, I wouldn't care where the money came from - I would be PISSED!

My dad did something similar many years ago - they were semi struggling with 3 young kids on a high school teacher's salary, and he dropped all of us (incluidng my mom) off at grandma's for a week-long visit. He picked us up in a new sporty Chevy. My mom said that, considering their financial situation at the time, it was the equivalent of buying a top of the line Mercedes.

Dave Ramxsey says "I've done stupid with zeros on the end." That's perfect for me and DH. We've made some baaaad mistakes and paid our "stupid taxes".

..not unless you count him cosigning a house loan with his worthless brother who proceeded to default on the loan ruining OUR credit for 7 years.
