Anyone worried about airfare prices affecting your guests?

We are not having our VR until October, but I am starting to worry about people backing out because of airfare costs. We have rented 4 homes for everyone that has said they are coming and if they start backing out I am out the money that I paid for a deposit on these homes. I think I paid between $250-400 for each homes deposit.

Airfare right now from MSP-MCO the week of our VR is $500-$600 a ticket! Most families have 4 or more people coming so that is going to add up to A LOT, even if they don't have to pay for lodging.

Airfare prices are still at "rack" rates for October—they won't start dropping til 2 or 3 months out. Also, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday are the cheapest days to fly, so if your event happens on a day that would accommodate that schedule, your guests will save more. For example, our wedding was on a Monday, so guests were able to save by flying in Saturday and flying out Tuesday.

I haven't had anyone back out of coming to my October wedding because of flight prices yet but I have had several families make plans to drive instead of fly. Prices are usually higher this far out but these prices are higher than we have ever seen for BWI to MCO.

I sure hope the Fall airfares drop. Our guests are looking to book but non stops from Newark to MCO are like $700 pp right now! I usually buy 3-4 months out and pay $200 to $300.

I just cannot believe the prices! Normally I think it is because of it being so far away. But we have a trip coming in 3 weeks (we already bought tickets) and those prices are $450 per person right now. We paid $320.00. I started looking at tickets a few months away just to see and those are in the $500 range.

I am afraid with the gas prices and the election that this airfare is here to stay for awhile.
