I knew this would be a bad day!
I just read that BTMRR will be closed during our Oct trip!!
AND now I hear that TOT may also be closed!!

These are my DD 2 most favorite rides!! and BTMRR is my favorite!!!
This is HORRIBLE!

It's bad enough that MGM already closed Hunchback! and Residential Street!
I also heard maybe Fantasmic! What's up with that???

Please anyone with the OFFICIAL word???
What's up? Dates??

Thanks

Where did you read about BTMRR rehab? What re the dates? I have a 5 year old niece who is sooo excited to ride it in Nov.

Don't forget to add the Animation Tour to your list of closed attractions in September. Personally, I may skip the Disney parks this year and just do Universal and Sea World if anything else is reported to be in rehab in the coming month or so.

Not a happy camper this morning.

:(

I have found no evidence of these rehabs on the internet. Does someone have a link?

Ok I just got off the phone with a CM who had maintence on the other line. He did say that in the fall is when the try to schedule any types of ride rehab or changes, BUT he said that for lenghthy rehabs(meaning more then a few days) they usually get those on the schedule 3 or more months in advance.

He could not promise that these rides wouldn't be down, but he said there was no way they'd take down both RNRC and TOT at the same time. He saw nothing on the schedule for BTMRR and he said if it was going down for that long it would most likely be on the schedule already.

I don't know where the people are getting this info from, but I guess I'm going to take it with a grain of salt until closer to the end of August. Plus I guess I'm likely to take the word of an actual ride maintence guy verse a CM that just happens to work in the parks. It might just be like the game telephone. Someone said oh BTMRR is going to be down for a day to paint a car or something and by the time it gets to us it's a major rehab. LOL

So I wouldn't worry until Disney makes an "offical" announcement!

Thanks for taking the time to find out this information, greatly appreciated!! I won't worry now.

This info comes from the CM information portal, so I'd say it's reliable(at least the stuff about MGM). Disney is notorious abotu denying rumors on the phone and then doing what they denied right after. Just be aware of it :)

For whatever it's worth, I sent Disney an e-mail regarding the ride closures and how mad I am at the possibility of multiple premiere ride closures. I doubt I will hear anything back, but it helped me to vent.

I feel like Clark Griswald when he shows up to WallyWorld and it's closed ("Sorry folks, Parks Closed!"). I may have to steal a BB gun and force one of the CM's to take my girlfriend and I on Tower of Terror despite it being closed.

All I have been telling her about is ToT, and now this. ARGH. Granted, she said "Well, I'll never know what I missed if we can't ride it." Problem is, I will

Unfortunately, that's one of the drawbacks of going in the Fall since it's usually their least-crowded time of the year. It's the ideal time from a traveler's perspective because the crowds are light and the weather is PERFECT. But they're obviously going to have to try and do heavy maintenance when they have the fewest people there. I faced this once on a Fall vacation many years ago when Space Mountain was closed during our trip.

All the rumors have been flying. In the last week I have read about the following rehabs on this board: TOT, RnRC, BTMRR, and Fantasmic. Along with minor things like the animation studios and residential street. Realistically I don't see how it is possible that they could all be down at the same time. Financially that would kill MGM, what would you pay admission for? If they take away the 2 big thrill (and only) rides and MGM's biggest show--- it wouldn't happen all at once. They may or may not be scheduled for upcoming rehabs, but I highly doubt all at once.

For our safety each ride has to have major overhauls. Nobody wants it on their vacation, but I have always had at least one major ride in rehab on each of my trips. Looks like it may happen again when I am there this October too. Gives me a reason to have to go back.

It seems strange they would have all these rides/shows down after offering the Fairytale Package since I am guessing crowds will be higher THIS fall.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed about BTMRR because we are going the end of August but it does not look good for the fall.

From www.mgmstudios.org:

The month of September will be a bad one for guests as the Tower of Terror will be closed starting September 17, and will be closed through the rest of the month and possibly into October. The reason for the rehab is to get a whole new Tower console for the ride.

On September 1, the Magic of Disney Animation will close for at least a month for a revamping tour. No details of what will be updated or when it may re-open, but it will be at least a month and may be closed for as much as 3 months.

From www.screamscape.com:

(6/11/03) The following information is only about the shops in Liberty Square, Adventureland and Frontierland. Starting June 15th until at least October 1st (end of the Disney fiscal year) all shops other than Pirates Bazaar, Big Al’s & Splash Photo will not open until 11am and will close early at 6:30pm regardless of what time the park closes. I’ve heard rumors coming down the pipe (mostly from Disneyland) claiming that Jay Rasulo was going to demand some major budget cuts from the Merchandise department... something that would make former bossman Paul Pressler roll in his grave. (If he were dead that is... he’s just moved on to The Gap, though there are many who will debate the difference.)

(7/9/03) The Orlando Sentinel has confirmed with Disney that there will be no Osborne lights for the 2003 Holiday Season as well as quote from Jennings Osborne about moving the display to to the New York Streets area in 2004.

(6/27/03) We’ve heard from one source that the Rock ‘n Roller Coaster may go down for a week or so in September for some annual maintaince work.

LOL!!!!!!
TOO FUNNY!!!!!!!
Along with minor things like the animation studios and residential street.
To some those may not be considered "minor" I really enjoy the animation studios!:D

I didn't mean minor as in unimportant. I apologize, I meant minor as in not a major "thrill ride".
