Anyone with Hashimoto's disease...question about heart palp?

I'm a little freaked out by these heart palpataions. I only notice them at night when I am trying to sleep. It's not like my heart is pounding but something is different and I feel very light headed. Does anyone else get these 'attacks.' I know I should probably check back in with my doctor again. It's just that I have to take my 2 1/2 yr old twins with me (or get someone to watch them) and I'm so burnt out from appointments with any/all doctors. I feel like, sincve being diagnosed (and before) there is always something else that I need to have checked out.

Jess, go to the doctor. Thyroid is something you should not fool with.

I am seeing a doctor about my thyroid. I just don't want to drag twin 2 yr olds in to the doctor today if this is simply another symptom of my autoimmune disease/thyroid problem. I've had enough with all the appts and no new info. I just don't have the extra time to waste. It's frustrating.

Can I assume you are on Synthroid or some other thyroid med? Your doc may just let you get your TSH checked and change your dosage without having to have an appointment. How long have you been diagnosed?

I had Hashimoto's and my thyroid had to be removed. If my thyroid levels are off I do get palipations, but the only way to know if they are caused by the Hashimoto's is to get a blood test for your levels. Sorry, but I also would recommend a visit to the Drs.

I'm on levothyroxin. My levels were checked last month. I've been diagnosed for about a year but I suspect I have had it for much longer than that. I'm kind of stuck between the .025 and .05 dose. If I don't take enough I have muscle problems, fatigue, cycle issues, and it feels like someone has their hands wrapped around my throat. If I take .05, I get insomnia, heart palps (although I seem to get them at night no matter what dose now), internal tremors. Fun!

I have read that heart palp come with Hashimoto's. Any experience with that? Does my racing heart (not so much pounding though) and light headedness sound right? This is the symptom I am currently concerned about. Unfortunately, from experience, I know that next week there will be something new to worry about.

My actual thyroid levels have never been off. That is why I was not diagnosed for a while. It wasn't until I did some reading and asked to have the full work-up with antibodies that I was finally diagnosed. The thing is, with Hashimoto's, your actual thyroid numbers can be perfectly normal and you can still have many symptoms/problems.

Hi Jess. I don't have the disease, but have dealt with regulating the thyroid meds (with doc telling me what to tell the pt. of course!). I know that it is a balancing act and takes a long time to hit the correct dose. And yes, racing heart and lightheadedness is part of the picture. You may want to call the doc and ask if you can get your blood tested for a start.

Hopefully someone with more experience will come on board (good pun, right ;)). I hope you feel better soon!

Oops, sorry Tinker, I didn't see your post. You have experience!

These boards are behaving strangely. I didn't see this post or Tink's until just now.

I have no experience with this aspect of thyroid questions. I really hope you can get the help you need.

Thank you. I am definitely following up with my doctor. I just am hoping to not have to try and get in today or tomorrow...lol. I think my next appt is March 18th (next week). I only seem to notice the palps in bed at night but, I am so busy with 5 kids during the day that it could be happening and I am just not noticing it. I've also started to be anxious about it happening at night so I'm sure that isn't helping.

Thanks again...
Jess

Yes, that makes sense. I hope all will be well. Please let us know.:goodvibes
