Anyone watching the SATC reboot? Major spoiler inside...

I was wondering how much time passed at the beginning. I was thinking a year to a year and a half?

I kind of wanted Charlotte to say sorry to Harry. If the tables were turned and Harry knocked her over, I really feel like he would have apologized immediately and helped her up. I understand what she is saying about women always apologizing though.

Steve at the farmers market. sigh. I thought I was watching an 85 year old dementia patient. At one point during his rant I actually burst out laughing at the absurdity of it. I just can't.

I guess Miranda and Che are a thing? It seems like Che is just out for a good time. It seems like she is a local celebrity for her comedy act. I have a feeling it is more casual for her than it is for Miranda.

Yes to both of these!! Why do they have to make Steve a bumbling idiot?? He was always such a nice, sweet guy. And, then their attempt to be intimate...I thought maybe this will be a turning point but there was literally no romance in that interaction. Give it an effort at least.

I definitely think the whole Che/Miranda thing is much more of a big deal to Miranda than it is Che. To Che is seems more like Miranda is her hook-up whenever she wants it. I still have difficulty getting past the whole Miranda roasting Steve for cheating but for her to cheat its no big deal.

I don’t know!I was also thinking a year because writing a book must take awhile. But then Miranda asks how long is too long for a DM to go ignored, and she implies that it has been three months since she messaged Che.

The picnic scene last week seemed like summer, but then 3 months wouldn’t cover the autumn leaves and snow we saw at the beginning….

I have to stop overthinking things!

Remember his mom has dementia. They better nor be sending Steve down that path.

UHG I hope not! He was just so ridiculous ranting and stomping around spouting off about his wallet. Honestly they should have given him a cane to shake in the air and one of those flat caps/newsboy caps and maybe some suspenders. I understand they are trying to make him annoying and unattractive to Miranda so she feels justified sleeping with Che but OMG could they make him any more pathetic?

They can't justify their way into making die hard fans dislike Steve. We didn't even hate him when he cheated (maybe at first). They are messing with the wrong character.

It’s not just us. https://www.elitedaily.com/entertainment/how-much-time-passed-and-just-like-that-episode-7-explained

I did enjoy the episode and liked the montage of Carrie writing over time. Seeing the competitive side of Charlotte was pretty funny.

What they are doing to Steve SUCKS! Right up there with Stanford moving to Japan.

Do wish I had not been eating dinner during the episode...

Late to the thread as I just started watching this week (and blew through all the episodes, of course!)

I watched the original series at different times, but haven't watched the movies, and so far, I like the new series.

The death of a core character is far, far, far different and this show is no longer the comedy it used to be. Who the heck wants to watch something this depressing during the current climate? Not me.

I agree that often I'm looking for "escape TV" but there are also a lot of people in Carrie's situation right now who probably feel like they are the only ones. Seeing oneself in fictional characters has always been important.

When I saw Carrie’s new apartment it wasn’t even Carrie. It was so cold and sterile. Where Carrie has that vintage transitional vibe.

Yeah, it wasn't her...but gosh, I wanted all those windows!!

Yes, this is the part I never liked about these types of allegations. We've moved from a society who used to stand by "Innocent until proven guilty," to just making any and all allegations in the media, especially social media, and if it gets a lot of traction, then it must be true, even if/when it's not. There's an old quote attributed to Mark Twain, “A lie can travel halfway around the world before the truth puts on its shoes.”

That's a good point.

I really like Seema, I hope they keep her around long-term. She seems so cool and brings a lot of good energy to the show.
The only thing I cannot figure out is why are we on the journey of the professor? She's not a main character and her story doesn't just flow naturally, it feels forced and not in a good way.

I think the writers have purposefully given each of the characters a new friend, either to show growth beyond the original group, or to sort of "audition" all of them with the audience and choose a new forth based on who the fans like.

For those saying Miranda was awful for doing what she did while she was watching Carrie, agreed it wasn’t her best idea, but let’s not forget that she was also high. She wasn’t having reefer madness, but it can shift your thinking. Not making excuses, just pointing it out.

But getting high while "babysitting" was irresponsible in itself. No sympathy from me.

I guess Miranda and Che are a thing? It seems like Che is just out for a good time. It seems like she is a local celebrity for her comedy act. I have a feeling it is more casual for her than it is for Miranda.

I was afraid of that too. Even though I don't agree with all Miranda's choices, I still hate to see her get hurt. (Plus, I actually liked that actor way back on Grey's Anatomy, and would like to see more of them.)

Remember his mom has dementia. They better nor be sending Steve down that path.

Oh, nooooooo - I hadn't even thought of that!

I didn’t read the article, just skimmed. One thing stood out that I think is very important to this thread…And just like that is not meant to be the same as Sex and the City. Why can’t you (general you) just enjoy it for what it is instead of comparing it to a show that ended almost 20 years ago. My goodness.

Plus, in the original, Steve was a scatterbrain. Granted, not as much as we’ve seen now, but who’s to say? Can you guarantee you’ll be the exact same as you are right now 20 years down the road?

Well today was my opportunity to watch this week's episode while the DH went somewhere to watch "sports ball". I grabbed some chardonnay and fired up the fire stick. I really DO enjoy this show, but it frustrates me.

I really DO like Steve... I don't know what it is about him. Maybe because he is so sweet or something. I dunno, I just hate to see how Miranda is doing him. I know in the movie he had that indiscretion, but I think he is a good guy and he means well. I just DO NOT LIKE CHE.

As far as Carrie dating again... Mixed feelings. The guy she she is dating seems like a decent guy, I am curious to see where this leads.

Charlotte and Harry fighting... I kind of see Charlotte's point, he encouraged her to "go for it"... granted it would be a lot easier if she would just say "sorry". I know in that situation I would just to smooth things over even though I would feel like I was right. It is just polite.

Well if you feel they are doing the characters wrong by their portrayal fine by me to complain. It's like watching a sequel and wondering what the heck were they thinking by changing things about a character. Doesn't seem much to me like how would you (personally) change over 20 years but rather are they making a mockery the characters by ignoring past things set up. I kinda think if you're just thinking about how would you change in 20 years it's missing the point of what people are talking about.

I get where you're coming from. I just don't agree. That's what makes the world go round lol

:flower3:

Thanks for posting this! I don't think people have issue with Miranda and Steve drifting away from each other, it's just why do they have to make him such a doormat?? While Miranda was always the dominant one in the relationship he wasn't a doormat before.

Also interesting that there is only four more episodes.
There is actually only 3 episodes left, this is a ten episode series. So either the article got it wrong or it was including episode 7 as the first in the set of 4.

The way the article worded it was confusing. Bummer there is one less episode to go, I feel like we are just now getting into a lot of the characters storylines.
