Anyone watching the SATC reboot? Major spoiler inside...

I wonder if they will show a time jump next episode. Between watching both episodes and crying, it's hard to get motivated to the stuff I was supposed to do. At least my family is not home to make fun of me. 🥺🙃

Just watched the 2nd episode. The photo montage...

I was holding it together until the note with the flowers. I don’t know why that was the moment but I got te

I thought this was coming out on Dec 16th? Did they drop the whole season?

One new episode a week going forward. A total of 10 I believe.

I watched the two episodes that are out and I enjoyed it. Sounds like maybe I’m alone in that 🤷‍♀️

I really liked it too. I’ll keep watching for sure.

On another note, does it seem like they are building to a Miranda becoming and alcoholic kind of arc? Two times they have shown her needing a drink in the morning to get through something.

I had that thought, too, when she needed a drink before the funeral. It could have been for nerves, but added to all the other times we saw her drinking, I think she has a drinking problem.

Well I cried the first 2 episodes. It was a lot heavier than I expected. Given the ages of everyone, it hits home with the issues being dealt with.

Samantha was wrapped in a pretty bow. Kim not wanting to come back and rightfully so. She made the right decision and the best one for herself in my opinion.

Yes does seem like Miranda alcoholic arc incoming. Brady is a little sh_____.

Lots of comparisons of older generation with the new generation.

I'm good with the new show and will continue on.

Not ashamed to say I broke down and bawled my eyes out at the end of the first episode. And was still crying into the second one....yowza.

I noticed that too, I absolutely sure that's where they are headed with that.

During the Team Big vs. Team Aidan days, I was always Team Big. What can I say, I'm drawn to bad boys. Luckily my husband is a good boy in a bad boy shell.

I was Team Big too. So, was Carrie apparently. She did end up having an affair with him. And when she was in Paris with Mikhail Baryshnikov, it was Big she realized she really wanted to be with.

What was wrong with having a reboot with a Carrie that was happily married? What? There are no other storylines they could come up with than women always yearning to find a man, even when they are constantly proclaiming how strong they are without one?

Big died after riding a Peloton and doing a Peloton class. Since the premiere, Peloton's stock price dropped 11%.

SATC asked if they could use a Peloton bike and instructor for the show. Peloton said yes. Unfortunately Peloton wasn't told how their bike & instructor would be represented. Had they known someone would die after using the bike and class, they'd likely have said no. In a press release today, Peloton said, "Due to confidentiality reasons, HBO did not disclose the broader context surrounding the scene to Peloton in advance," :sad2:

(I'm sure HBO knew quite well Peloton would NOT have allowed their bike to be used had they known the circumstance.)

Today, Peloton is doing damage control for the drop in stock price, issuing a statement through cardiologist Dr Suzanne Steinbaum, insisting that Mr Big riding a Peloton bike would have helped delay his fatal heart attack. She said Mr Big's history of cardiac arrest would have put him at higher risk of a heart attack.

'I'm sure SATC fans, like me, are saddened by the news that Mr. Big dies of a heart attack,' Steinbaum began in her statement to US Weekly.

'Mr. Big lived what many would call an extravagant lifestyle — including cocktails, cigars, and big steaks — and was at serious risk as he had a previous cardiac event in Season 6,' she continued. 'These lifestyle choices and perhaps even his family history, which often is a significant factor, were the likely cause of his death. Riding his Peloton bike may have even helped delay his cardiac event,' she added.

So, maybe I am alone here, but the whole Carrie/Big romance has always irked me. He turned her into a horribly self centered person. He was so toxic and she became insufferable as the seasons went on. She is, literally, the poster child for "main character syndrome."

Of course Big was going to die. How else would they reboot "sex and the city" to be about the sexcapades of Carrie Bradshaw if she was still married? Clearly Miranda and Charlotte are deep into married family life, so it's not like they could be the central characters in this arc. Hopefully this reboot will see Carrie engage in some self reflection about how she has behaved towards her friends since she became entangled with Big, and we see some sort of transformation as she breaks free of the toxicity of that whole relationship and realizes there are better people out there to spend your life with.

But that's just my take. Besides Carrie, I found Miranda's awkwardness and attempts at social justice pandering to be really cringeworthy, in particular. Like, what happened to her? It's like she lost all her faculties and has regressed into being a bumbling idiot. Charlotte is still the same Type A, overly dramatic person, which is at least consistent if not a bit much when she made Big's death all about her for some reason. Maybe that was her way of getting back at Carrie for basically strong arming her into selling off her old engagement ring to loan Carrie the money to buy her apartment back from Aiden. I'm still not over how awful that was for Carrie to do, and maybe Charlotte hasn't forgotten either.

Not alone.

In fact one episode still plays on me like they were real people (which means bravo to the writers and Sara Jessica Parker and Chris Noth)

The one where she is caring for him (Candy striper outfit). She lays down beside him and he says out of the blue with earnest, "Why are we not together?". Completely checked in to the answer, and loving voice.

In the morning she revisits his words, goes to touch him. He flinches away from her hand and gets up. With ice cold energy.

Gross. And maybe forties or close at the time for him, so super gross. :drinking1

With Gimore Girls A Year In The Life. Emily's character had the most growth without Richard and loved her story arc the best. From the beginning of the series to the very end she grew. Changing over time and doing things she never would of done. I'm clinging onto and hoping the same for Carrie with And Just Like That.

Supposedly, rumor has it that Carrie is suppose to unwrap some Big secrets of Big's. With Natasha back, maybe Natasha was pregnant with Big's child and Big kept it a secret from Carrie? In the second movie, Big wanted his own apartment and 2 days a week off from their marriage to do what he wanted after Carrie escaped to her apartment to write and for me time. Perhaps the reading of Big's estate/will we'll find out more. What's Natasha's role in all of this since she's back.
