Anyone watching the SATC reboot? Major spoiler inside...

My daughter is very chill & never has been overly dramatic about really anything.

I don’t even remember actually teaching her or going through anything like Charlotte & Lily. I gave her a box of tampons & showed her the instructions & told her to ask me if she needed any help, but she pretty much figured it out on her own.

I know some women who refuse to let their daughters use tampons, & I always thought that was really sad.

I never showed my dd how to use a tampon, just bought her some, explained how to do it and that was that. I'm pretty sure her and her friends probably talked about it, maybe even showed eachother.
I didn't have a mom around for that stuff and I managed just fine.

How old is Lily, isn't she like 15? Is she cut off from society and sheltered? Between this and the whole checking for cancer thing it sounds like it.

It's definitely a Catholic thing. My mom would buy pads for under the sink. I had to coax her into the modern world (she was a bit older than the other moms) and convince her to start buying tampons. I think that same package of Always pads lived under the sink for about 20 years, Lol.

My mom was like this. My sisters and I just bought our own.

Thankfully I know how to read instructions. I mean, they even have drawings and everything.

Some girls don't like to use tampons. My late teen is a hard no on them. Won't even consider it as an option even though I've offered multiple times.

I was the first girl in my family to use tampons (that I know of), so I was on my own with it. It took me three years of having a period to even talk my mom into letting me (she was terrified of toxic shock). I learned from the package instructions, Seventeen and YM magazine, and trial and error. Now that I’m in my 40s, I hate tampons, so I’m back to pads like my old 12-year-old self again.

I liked the last episode, but yeah, Miranda is annoying me now. She’s more infatuated with Che than actually liking her I think. I still just want Che to sing.

I am in the minority because I did not care for this episode very much. 😬

I did enjoy (and related with) Charlotte and Lily. I remember explaining how to use one to my dd. Unlike the "hard no" moms, I had a "hard no" daughter. Until she wanted to swim, just like Lily. @DLgal, no way would I want to physically show her how to use one, and no way would she want to see it either. I explained (very similar to Charlotte putting a leg on the toilet,) and showed her the pamphlet as well. She also watched YouTube -- teen perspective versus old timer mom :rolleyes2.

Other than the bathroom scene and Anthony, the rest of it was meh. The teacher has me a little intrigued, but it was very small in this episode.
  1. I like Seema, but this episode with her was rather boring.
  2. And I am sorry, I just cannot get into the professor story line. I am not interested. At all. :confused3 Still feels terribly forced, imho.
  3. Steve, oh why did they have to make him so pathetic? I mean he was never Mr. Confidence, but he wasn't this weak.
  4. Miranda and Che can go eat their cookies on another planet. They are both awful. I was hoping annoying Miranda would just leave the stairwell faster to end the scene!!! :rotfl:

See, I thought he was more like his old self in this episode. He wasn't bumbling around, he is hurting because his marriage is breaking up. He was very compitent when he took apart the drain to get Carrie her ring back. And to that point, who didn't see it coming that she would lose or misplace or have something happen to the ring.

Hurting, I understand. Who wouldn't be. But he looked pitiful trying to pull answers from Carrie. I get that he is trying to figure this whole thing out, but not being angry ... at all? And saying he will never take the ring off, ever? That was the part of the writing I wasn't happy with. I just saw that scene with him not taking off his ring as weak. Maybe that specific story line was really more about Carrie and the symbolism of her and Big's rings. But it just made him look feeble, like he couldn't move on with out narcissistic Miranda. Steve is better than that.

I was like that when my marriage broke up.
Not everyone reacts the way you did or presume you would.
Steve was talking to an old friend and opening up, nothing wrong with that. He’s just not in the anger stage yet. Still in denial, he was blindsided.
I was shocked he was spending the day with Miranda painting.

My mom was Catholic (my grandparents went to Mass daily) and not only did she use tampons, she really pushed them on us. We had a built in heated pool, and she thought it was ridiculous not to use them. She won. Fir my divorced friends where their husbands instigated the divorce, grief came before anger, they wanted to know what they did wrong (which was hard to listen to because their husbands were jerks).

I think Steves reaction to Miranda was more about Carrie's storyline. Carrie was stuck in that place of "has is been long enough? Should I move on or would that disrespect Big?" I think by seeing Steve so devoted to Miranda even though she cheated on him and moved on was like a sign to Carrie that she didn't want to end up like him and pine away for someone who was never going to return to her. She questioned him and said "you are a great guy and you deserve someone to love." I think her own words woke her up and she suddenly realized she is not dead and does not want to end up alone. Then she sent a text to the teacher guy.

Unfortunately it kind of made Steve look pathetic. I just look at it as he had the rug pulled out from under him and is in the "shocked" stage and trying to piece it all together and figure out where it went wrong.

You’re correct. Everyone acts differently.

However, this isn’t real life. It is a TV show. YMMV. That’s cool. I like Steve and I think he’s better than the writing they are giving him. It’s just my opinion. You’re entitled to yours just as much as I am entitled to mine.

Mainly, I think my dislike of the writing for Steve stems from the way Miranda is now.

My mom wouldn’t let me. She was old school (or just old I guess!). Thought it would break my hymen and then, well that could be a catastrophe! 🙃

If my mother had her way, I’d have never used tampons or shaved anywhere. She acquiesced when I started buying products on my own.
