It was pretty interesting. One family was spending an incredible amount of money on eating out!

We don't eat out more than once per week (at a family diner type place) but I'm sure we're spending money on other things that I don't realize. I've just added the Debt Diet plan to my "favorites" & am going to see if we can skim the fat anywhere else.....

If you're game.....go to www.oprah.com & check out the Debt Diet plan. I'm all for having more money aside for more trips to WDW! :teeth:

Several threads devoted to this on the Budget Board, including today's show which was the 2nd episode.

Geez....I seem to catch everything the 2nd time around!

oh was that today?

I guess I'll have to check and see if they're replaying it in the wee hours and try to record it.

My DH watched it and called me in for the last 15 minutes to inform me he should have been a "Doctor", because he knows that he manages our money better than I. So now he was a bit smug. I thank you for the link, though. I am going to check it out.

I may head over to the budget board to discuss this. I was horrified by much of it. The lady talked about how people didn't even know what to say to her and treated her so differently knowing her secret. I wanted to shout at the tv because no one mentioned to her that buying things without paying for them (bills she hadn't even opened in 3 years?) is called STEALING! They kept acting like she was just getting behind in the bills.

I understand that people get into debt, but that case was definately more than that. I assume the other shows will address this more.

DW and I watched the end and thought it was a bit much that one of the richest woman in the world is telling us common folks how to live. I am sure she spends more in one day than any of those people spent in a year. :confused3

I did think it was a bit much to have that family of four live on $100 per week for food. I can blow that in one quick trip to the supermarket. Have you tried to buy fresh healthy foods on such a limited budget? We are careful with our money and pay our bills on time so we can blow whats left on trips to WDW. :rotfl2:

I know a lot of people love Oprah but on the rare occasions I can catch her show, I find them to be demeaning and depressing. Seems to always be telling people what is wrong with them and how they should be better. I guess a lot of people like that kind of show. Certainly better than a lot of the others like Maury.
