Anyone use mPoints/mPlaces apps?

Do you guys actually drive to business areas for the sole purpose of checking in? I feel like that is burning more in gas/time than it's worth. If I am near a business I will check in as much as I can, or pull into a lot and hit a bunch of stores. But to make a special trip out is not something I want to do. Consequently, I rarely make my daily limit on check ins. :teacher:

Differing opinions?

I don't make a special trip out, but if I need to get something from the grocery store, I might drive the extra half mile up the road to where our Target/Best Buy/Kohl's shopping center is and check in there too. I will usually also use this opportunity for Shopkicks since I use that app as well. But I'm definitely not driving out just to do this.

I can get my daily limit without leaving my neighborhood if I am willing to accept 10 point check-ins, which I refuse to do right now, so I might drive a block out of my way on my way to work to get the higher point check-ins. If I do, it's to a spot where there are 3 or 4 check-ins sitting in one spot. I can definitely get all 25 just driving to and from work with nothing less than 50 points

I don't go out of my way to check in. I am a visiting nurse, not FT! But I get out and about so I check in when I can. Like on Sunday instead of coming home one way I went another to get BK, Starbucks, AT&T and 2 subways (yet there is only 1) and then later that afternoon we went to the grocery store so I hit them up again.

If I don't have to go out, I don't but I want points and I want to get my kids out if the house some days even just to walk around Walmart.

I don't go out of my way either. I can check in at my house even if it is just 10 pointers. I get the bigger points if I have to go out.

My neighborhood is only residential, so I have to drive at least a mile to check in anywhere. The big points areas are completely out of my way but I get them about once a week. My regular route has only 10 pointers, but I've noticed sometimes they give 5 gift boxes, so that's good.
I expect my driving/point collecting will increase when school starts and we are back in the fall routine.

In addition to this, does anyone use the app Checkpoints? Seems like maybe it's a little more similar to Shopkicks in terms of scans, but it also has check ins and videos. I just downloaded it since it offers Target gift cards.

mPlaces has a 1000 point offer from Hidden Valley Ranch. It requires taking a photo of a recipe, the product you used and the end result. This was good timing for me as I made a batch of "Firerackers" yesterday using dry H.V. ranch mix.

Also, if you get the American Family Golf game, I've found I can play it multiple times in a row.

Just returned from vacation. I earned enough to cash out for another $5 card and I'm up to about 2500 again (yesterday and today). I seem to be lucky about getting lots of prize boxes--the ones that show up as a number in the corner of the screen. I have about 40-60/day. I really scored when I was able to check into LAX (drove by it on Highway 1)...the check in was worth 75 points but they kept asking me survey questions. I got tired of it after about 5 sets and stopped, but wished I hadn't when it entered 500 coins!!

However, as someone else mentioned, it is getting a lot harder to get high-point check-ins now. I used to get 50 pts at McDonald's, BK, Subway, and Starbucks, for instance, but now I only get 10.

So far, I've earned $10 in gift cards. I've spent an awful lot of time checking in, though, and I'm not sure it's really worth it to me. I may have my kids do it on their phones but I find myself driving out of my way to get "good" points and reach my limit, I'm using my data, and all for $10/month in gift cards. I also have to recharge my phone a lot more :)

Forgot to say that last week I loved the Old Navy check-in. It was 45 coins plus an ad click that gave you 40 more or something. This week it's ATT...75 points plus an ad click for an additional 30. If you are near an ATT, you can do that every hour (as long as you're not up to your max) and earn quite a bit.

I am still waiting on my first reward card from mPlaces. I submitted a request and received a confirmation on Aug. 14 that said it might be three business days. Anyone else have it take this long for a reward?

No. I've gotten 2 (both for Starbucks) and they came in 2 days. They do say business days, so maybe yours didn't actually go into the system until Monday. That's still more than 3 business days, though. Wouldn't hurt to try and contact them about it.

I've never had an issue but maybe try to call now that it's been that many days. Google mplaces and you will get a session m zendesk It's like a help desk and submit a request.

I have issues with places not being where they should. GameStop & Staples (located across the street from each other) are both a block & a half or so away from where they should be in opposite directions

I've had issues with that as well. There appears to be a dead zone near me in one area where there are a ton of stores to check in, but it takes a really long time to bring them up or they'll never load at all.

I've noticed quirky things with locations as well, but often in my favor. I won't be able to check in at Walmart even though I'm in the parking lot, but it will come up when I'm half a mile down the road and let me check in! I can sit in one spot and check in to several things in the mall across the street, but ATT in front of me often won't come up unless I specifically find it on the map and click it (or pull it up on the Earn part). Usually, though, I can check in to most of my favorites in one spot, even though they are in 3 separate areas.

I have those quirky locations, too. One strip mall sits far back from the road, but the locator pings are near the road in huge grassy field that fronts the mall and no one can drive on, so I can never get them. :upsidedow :drive:

I did contact customer support last night and my gift card arrive at 6:30 this morning. :thumbsup2

Have you guys noticed that sometimes when you click to check in from the pull up menu of locations, the next time you pull it up you'll see different stores? Or no stores? It's sort of crazy. I'll have it all planned out to check in to X as soon as my Y check in is done, and it doesn't come up the next time.

When it's working normally, I do wish it would just go back to the menu in the spot you left off--I'm always having to scroll down each time.

Did you get the 200 point survey today? It's an apology survey (1 question) for having been acting wonky. Sweet! I'll be hitting my 3rd gc today! I was going to give it up but (a) it's addicting and (b) the places I check in are all on the way to drop off my kids at school and then again to pick them up. I'm getting pretty good at getting points now, but it still takes me about 5 days to earn a $5 reward. That's not very good pay but it still feels like free money!

Oh, and good news, Narnia_girl! Glad you got your reward!

Ordered my gift card yesterday afternoon and it came in this morning! It does take a while to accumulate points and it's not great pay, but I sort of enjoy the app and checking in, so I'll keep using it!
