Anyone use Internet Explorer 7?

I have version 6 and noticed that my computer hasn't asked me to update to explorer 7. Should I go to the website and download it?

Any pros/cons about the newer version? I'm always leary of downloading things so I wanted to ask about it first.

My computer downloaded IE7 as an automatic update. It installed and proceeded to make a mess of my computer. I visited the tech sites trying to make IE7 work, but it was a nightmare. The tech pages were filled to overflowing with questions about how to get IE7 to work and/or issues involved in using it. I fiddled with the thing for days and finally gave up. Needless to say, I uninstalled it and disabled it from downloading again!

Subsequent to the IE7 nightmares, we were finally able to get a DSL connection and the provider recommended that we use Firefox instead of IE. I was hesitant because I knew nothing of Firefox. I have to admit, however, that I now use Firefox exclusively. IE6 is still installed, but I choose to use Firefox now.

I prefer IE7. It is far more secure than IE6, and the added security is well worth the upgrade.

I have been using it for about a month now and haven't had any problems with it. It installed easily and didn't mess anything up.

Same here. I've been using it since it was Beta. I really like it and have had no problems.

I use both 6 and 7 and while I'm used to 6, I think 7 is faster. I don't like the layout of the buttons on the tool bar. It would be nice if I could make it look like 6. I like the tabbed feature but I wish I could put the tabs at the bottom.

I have no idea how to go to internet options to delete cookies and things now until I get use to this toolbar.


Edited: nevermind, found the menu bar. This may take awhile. I like my menu bar up top so I have to see if I can move them around.

I don't like that they moved all that stuff way over to the right.

After it installed it asked me about certain settings: browser, page viewing clearer, etc...

Now my pages don't seem to display as clear/crisp. Is their anyway to change that one setting and see if it makes a difference? Found that too. Nevermind...

Our experience was pretty much like this. After the automatic update of IE7, everything went to "H*** in a handbasket". The computer tech at work finally showed me how to "uninstall" IE7 and so we're using IE6 again.

my IE7 is doing fine, except that every so often it "encounters a problem and needs to shut down." I had to look to find all the other items I had on IE6.

I understand your fear. I was so afraid that I'd be left with nothing. However, the computer tech at work assured me that it would automatically revert to IE 6. The only thing is that he didn't tell me that my computer would take about a minute to get "readjusted". So I did what he said and sure enough, it appeared I was left with nothing. So I quick called him in a panic, and while I was on hold waiting for him, my computer figured it all out and I got IE 6 back. Poor Mando-when he got on the phone, after being told he had a panic call from me, I just said "Oh! Never mind!" and hung up. Fortunately I called him back later to explain it-but I did have a momentary panic.
