Just curious what your thoughts are on these and where the best place to purchase them would be? I've seen them on the infomercial & QVC and have seen people selling the products on eBay too. Wondering if they are worth the price and what I should get if I'm just starting to wear their products. TIA!

I've used Bare Escentuals for a couple of years now. I think I, too, enquired on the DIS before purchasing! LOL

I absolutely love their products. It is the only foundation I've ever been able to tolerate, and it looks great. Not sure what else to tell you--I can't say enough good things about them.

For a first time purchase, I would either get one of the starter kits on QVC or order from the infomercial. I think you need to use the product for a while and get a feel for what you like and will use before you order off of ebay. That's what I did. QVC usually has their starter kits reasonably priced, around $30 I think.

After you've tried out the product to see if you like it, I'd suggest buying additional brushes. I have one brush for my foundation and one for my bronzer (warmth). I also have the concealer brush, which I looooooove.

Let me know if you have any specific questions!

I use a minerals based product called Jane Iredale, same thing as Bare Escentuals. I originally purchased my pressed powder base at a salon to get the right color for my skin. I now get my supplies from E-Bay! MUCH cheaper.

Minerals come in loose or pressed powder (as far as foundation goes -- only thing I use so far). I like pressed --- loose iS VERY VERY hard to control when you open the jar! One sneeze and your product goes all over!!

Ive used minerals for two years. I've gotten so many comments on how good my skin looks -- I recommend you give it a try. I'm 40 and it has taken me 20 yrs to find the perfect foundation! It is wicked easy to put on.....you just really need a good big fluffly brush for good coverage.

Also....you can sleep in mineral-based products -- since they are natural.

I tried it but felt I looked too powdery --- how do you get it to look smooth? I would put it over my moisturizer, not their base product.

I LOVE Bare Minerals/Bare Escentuals and cannot speak highly enough about their products! I got my cousin to use it and she loves it too! Absolutely wonderful! I got mine at Ulta so I could actually try it before using it. I would recommend this even though it costs more. It's great, go for it!

Bare Escentuals come in a jar with a shaker top, so you don't have this problem. Just shake a little into the lid. I've been using BE for over a year and I'm extremely happy with it. I've bought from QVC and from Ulta (unfortunately, Ulta only carries this line in their stores, not online).

Thanks for the quick replies. I noticed on QVC's website that they are having a Bare Escentuals Holiday Special this Monday from 3-6, should I wait to see what they offer?

I would probably want a kit that covers foundation, concealer and some eye color, possibly. I have pretty fair skin, use warm tones mostly. How do you figure out the right color foundation to use?

Is the Bare Vitamins Skin Rever Upper worth the extra $20 it would cost on the BE site?

I have very fair skin - I wear the lightest shade in every foundation I've ever tried - and the Fair shade works for me. It looks too dark in the jar, but on my skin it's just right. Unfortunately, BE doesn't seem to include Fair in their introductory kits. Fair is pretty neutral IMHO. The BE Addicts Board has a pretty good shade comparison.

My must haves include, in order..

1) Foundation
2) Concealer
3) BRUSHES (don't bother with the cheap ones, get the good ones)
4) Mineral Veil
5) Mascara (wonderful)
6) True (use as blush too)
7) Eye shadow (lemon zinger is AWESOME...so natural)

I will be checking out QVC today too, thanks for the info.

I've tried the lip revver upper

thelionqueen-
Why do you like the mascara? I ask because I've been looking for a good mascara for a long time! I've gone through three this year! Everyone I find clumps no matter what. Thanks for any input!

3) BRUSHES (don't bother with the cheap ones, get the good ones)

Do you mean that some kits come with cheap brushes? Or do you mean that I shouldn't use a cheaper brush that I already have?

But the S/H is $20.00-that is ridiculous IMO!

Don't use a cheaper brush you already have--spring the extra $ and use the BE brushes. You can save quite a bit buying them on Ebay--they are quite expensive on QVC if you buy them outside of a kit. All of the kits come with the BE brushes, so no worries there.

I've never used their skin care products (I'm a philosophy gal) so I don't know about the revver-upper. Their lipsticks are great, though, one of the few I like. I'm not crazy about their gloss--not that it is bad, just that there are other brands I like better.

I would definitely wait until the QVC special--they almost always run a starter kit that includes foundation, bare minerals, warmth, and a brush--at a great price. They may have it earlier in the day on the website.

I started using BE about 2-3 months ago and my collection has really grown! ;) As others have mentioned, you should get the starter kit from Ulta or try medispastore.com. They no longer sell over the internet but you can call and see if they have any kits in stock. As of Thanksgiving week they were out but expecting more in. I think the basic stuff you want to have is:
foundation
mineral veil
kabuki brush
concealer with brush

If you decide you like that, then you can order samples from websites of eye shadows etc. That way you are not spending lots of $$$ on stuff you don't really like. There are several places to order from and if you do a search on here they will come up because they have been discussed before.

Just be prepared to love this stuff! I went from the basics to shadows, liners, lipsticks....you name it...in just a few short weeks. DH thinks I am nutty! :rolleyes1

I just got this off of ebay for $10.00 plus $1.50 shipping!

I've used BE for several months now and LOVE it!

I definitely recommend the foundation, mineral veil (great to keep down shine) and bisque (this is a great concealer). And, as others have mentioned, don't skimp on the brushes - blending the products in correctly are key.

My first purchase of BE was the "Get Started" kit at Sephora which includes:

-Two Shades of bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation to ensure the perfect match
-bareVitamins Skin Rev-er Upper: can be applied daily before applying bareMinerals to rev up your skin
-Mineral Veil: provides a translucent finishing touch to your makeup, infusing it with softness and adding a flawless finish.
-Warmth All Over Face Color: add an instant sun-kissed glow to skin where the sun would naturally touch
-Flawless Application Brush
-Full Coverage Kabuki Brush
-Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush
-Bonus! A How-to DVD/VHS for tried and true beauty tips from Leslie Blodgett, Bare Escentuals CEO.

The kit is $60, and they offer free shipping on $75+, so you could add one or two things to bump up your total.

I also use the Skin Rev-er Upper, under moisturizer, before putting on my makeup.

You can also find the products on eBay, but as always, please be sure that you are buying new/sealed/fresh items. I would definitely recommend going with a starter kit and then buying from eBay, as needed, to replenish your supply.

Good luck to you :wave2:

Thanks for all the advice, I think I'll wait until Monday & see what shows up on QVC. If they don't offer something better I'll just check out either the BE website or Sephora. I called the Medispa place & they have none to sell, the CS rep said she didn't think they were "allowed" to sell BE items any longer.

What is the skin rever upper and how do you like it?

I've been wanting to try Bare Escentuals for a long time. QVC used to have a nice starter kit, but when I went back to order it it was gone. Now they have Bare Escentuals Bare Basics 4-piece Kit with How-To DVD (Item Number A67229), but it doesn't look they have my color (all too dark). I liked the other kit because you could chose two colors "for the perfect match".
