Anyone use Bare Minerals Escentuals products?

I ordered one of their brushes, I think it may have been Kabuki? But I am very disappointed in it. It is literally falling apart. Everytime I apply my make-up, I end up with tiny hairs all over my sink and the front of my shirt from the brush shedding (it's getting shorter and shorter each time I use it!) Has this not happened with anyone else? I'd rather use a cheap brush, than an expensive one that is no better quality. I do LOVE the make-up though!

The only time I had any trouble with a brush was when I didn't wash it on a regular basis. Once I started being good about cleaning the brushes they last forever. Just use a very mild soap (I use dove or ivory) in a small amount in the palm of my hand. Make sure you rinse and dry them thoroughly.

I tried it but felt I looked too powdery --- how do you get it to look smooth? I would put it over my moisturizer, not their base product.
You probably have too much on.
I don't have any base product (I buy mine at Ulta and they don't have any base product). I just put it on over my moisturizer.
You need to put a little in the lid of the jar, swish your brush around the lid and then tap the brush on the edge of the lid so that any loose powder comes back off into the lid.

What about dry skin? I would be afraid that my VERY dry skin would look flaky with the powder. Does anyone who uses it have very dry skin?

I've been using BE for about 4 years now and I love it. Sometimes I fall asleep with it on, when I wake up my face doesn't have a break out. I just ordered the kit at Sephora.com and love all the stuff that comes with it. It's a very good beginners kit. I love the mineral veil that goes on top of the foundation. It literally feels like there's nothing on my face at all. I really love it and have gotten some of my friends to use it too.

My mom uses Philosophy and she loves that. I think her favorite is the Grace perfume, but I love the hope in a jar moiturizer.

I have dry patches on my skin and you use such a tiny bit of powder that it doesn't look flaky at all.
I liked how it looked/worked right away, but there is a learning curve to figuring out how to get it on right. My oldest DD started using it a year ago. At first she didn't like it at all, but all of a sudden she "got" how to put it on and really likes it now.
We got our kits at Ulta. I don't know about right now, but the kits you could get on the internet or on QVC had less colors to choose from. Both DD and I have very fair skin and used the lightest powder they have available.

I also have their eye shadows which I love. One has a shaker top and the other is just loose. I thought it would be a problem and make a mess, but it hasn't been. Usually enough is sticking to the top of the jar when I open it or I lightly lay the brush down on top of the powder and then tap the excess off (gently, so I don't get powder bouncing out).

Wow, great comments and replies here. Thanks to those who posted the links to the other threads & forums, there is so much info out there on these products, it is great! :)

I'll be watching QVC later on this afternoon to see what I can pick up. :)

Edited to say: we don't have Ulta here, I had to check it out online to see what the heck it was. :teeth:

I decided to give it a try. Last week I ordered 2 new BE brushes(foundation and concealer/eye shadow), samples of foundation, mineral vail, bisque, 6 of the warmth, glee, clear radiance type products, and 4 eye shadows for under $50 on ebay. I just hope I ordered the right shade of foundation. Once I figure out exactly what I want I'll order the full sizes. I can't wait for them to get here!
I'll post my results, and maybe a before/after if I can figure out how to do that

Can anyone tell me if this is good for problem skin like breakouts and a couple of acne scars? Right now I use the Lauren Hutton but would love to try the BE products. TIA

I am one of those with adult acne and although I don't get many breakouts anymore, since using pro-active, I still have the scars on my chin as a reminder of what can happen. BE covers it all up...I mean really covers it up and I do see a healthier glow to my skin. I don't feel like I am clogging my pores at all. I have been using BE for about 3 months now and I feel like the condition of my skin as really improved. You should try it!

Well, I watched the show for the whole 3 hours, but there was no starter "kit" on there, although many of the products looked tempting. I ended up ordering off the website.

When I went to place the order I had some trouble with my browser, so I called the toll free number to order. They already had my info on file, I think I requested some info by mail a long time ago. Since I had done that, according the CS rep, I received 15% off my order. I went ahead and ordered the biggest set ($161.95 - $24.29 (15%)=$137.66 + 19.95 (shipping) =$157.61 + 12.61 (tax)=$170.22 )

For $170.22 I will be getting:
(2) shades of bareMinerals SPF 15 foundation -
to insure you get the perfect match
(1) Mineral Veil -
a finishing powder that infuses skin with sheer perfection
(1) bareMinerals Warmth All-Over Face Color -
adds an all-over, sun-kissed glow
(1) Flawless Application Face Brush -

(1) Full Coverage Kabuki Brush -

(1) Multi-Tasking Bisque -
works as both an eyeshadow and concealer for your face, covering dark circles, brown and red spots, blemishes and other skin imperfections
(3) All-Over Face Colors -
Glee, Clear Radiance, and True
(3) brushes -
Tapered Blush Brush, Wet/Dry Shadow Brush, Eyeliner Brush

(1) Mascara -

(1) bareVitamins Skin Rev-er Upper -

(1) MD Formulations Facial Cleanser -
gently cleanses and exfoliates skin with Glycolic Compound to reveal softer, smoother, healthier-looking skin.
(1) Refillable Mirrored Compact w/ half-moon brush -
sleek and convenient compact comes complete with its own carrying case and brush for beauty on-the-go
PLUS
(3) bareMinerals Eyeshadows
3 shades including: neutral bone, smoky brown, and neutral suede
(1) Contour Shadow Brush
flexible tool blends smoothly along the crease, creating soft, smoky looks. Also great for providing detail highlights along the brow bone.
And three FREE gifts from Leslie:
· Leslie's How-to Guide for bareMinerals Beauty (DVD or VHS)
· Expandable Make-up Organizer
· Baby Buki Brush

It seemed like a pretty good deal, included all the things I had seen and was interested in (foundation, face color, eye color, liner, bisque, etc...) plus the refillable compact seemed to be a good thing to have. Overall even though I spent a good chunk of money, considering what they charge in most dept stores for make-up, it didn't seem that bad. I'll post again when it arrives & I try it! :)

OK, I think I'm finally ready to take the plunge and order bareMinerals. I've never used this makeup before so I want to get a starter kit with two color shades, the brushes, and the DVD. I could kick myself for not getting the starter kit that QVC had a couple months ago. Where should I order from? I'm really uncomfortable ordering makeup from ebay. If I order it from the official site don't they automatically send you more every 60 days? I don't want that. What about Ulta? I've seen people post about ordering from that site. Do they sign you up for automatic shipments?

Please help me figure out where to get bareMinerals. I'm almost out of the makeup I currently use.

I'm looking at Sephora and Ulta right now. It looks like the only difference in the kits is: Sephora has the Skin Rev-er Upper and Ulta has MD Formulations Facial Cleanser. Which one would be better to get? What the heck is Skin Rev-er Upper anyway? Does anyone know what the shipping is for both sites? That may be the decider.

I just ordered some of the makeup from http://www.medi-spastore.com/. They offer 10% off to new customers, with shipping free for orders over $25. I had read on one of the forums here about someone having a 20% code, so when I called I asked the rep and she went ahead and gave me 20% off my order. I saved over 20 dollars. I had my order within a week (and it was the week before Christmas). I don't believe you can order Bare Minerals through the website, you have to call. :sunny:

Just wanted to chime back in. I'm the OP and decided to just take the plunge & get a big kit from the BE website. I've had it over a week now and have gotten a few compliments on how "refreshed" I look. :)

I like the products very much, feel weightless & has good coverage without a "mask" feeling.

Thanks to all who posted here about their products and experiences!

In part to this thread, I asked DH for the starter kit for Christmas. He got it and I just love it. I am shocked at the coverage you get for such a light feeling. I got the skin rever upper in my kit and it contains salicylic acid, which is good if you have some acne. I think it makes my face feel smoother. I'm hooked!

If I remember my geography correctly theTreasure Coast of FL is near Vero Beach (or is that the Gold Coast). Anyway- there is a Bare Escentuals store in Orlando (check bareescentuals.com for exact location - Florida Mall I think). If it is cinvenient you might want to go there and get an official consultation for color selection. Then order the starter kit off the infomercial or web site for the best price and selection of brushes.

Oh, and to answer the question about the Skin Rever Upper and the other MD facial cleanser, I'd get the skin rever upper. As someone else mentioned it contains salycylic (sp) acid and I thought it would dry out my already dry sking but it has not so far and really makes my skin look smoother before apply the BE products.

The facial cleanser is very heavy and I doesn't do a good job at removing makeup, IMO. I wouldn't buy it again, it just happened to be in the kit I purchased.

HTH!

Sandy ~ Thanks for the info. Unfortunately Orlando is too far away and I don't have any plans to go any time soon. We were just there in October.

Karen ~ Thanks for the tip about the Skin Rever Upper. I think I'll order from Sephora so I get that instead of the facial cleanser.
