Anyone use Bare Minerals Escentuals products?

I'm 25 and up to this point I could never find make-up that I liked or that didn't look too fake. Then because of you guys I bought the Starter Kit from Sephora (went to the store first...actually wasn't too sure of it, but bit the bullet anyway). I LOVE this stuff! I actually wear it just about everyday (going from wearing nothing everyday) and I've gotten a ton of comliments. I totally hides my Roseaca and broken capilaries. I bought a bunch of extra brushes from Ebay, along with some eyeshadows. Love it all--even using their eyeliner! Moving on to Buisque and the mascara next.

I use the mineral veil, bisque concealer, graphite as an eyeliner and a blush everyday. I also just got a mascara from BE and it is the only mascara I have tried that didn't flake off into my eyes! I love Bare Escentuals!

Just MTCW. I LOVE BE!! Will never use anything else. You can even sleep in the stuff and no problems! It is amazing and I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. I agree with one of the other posters about getting started with a kit from QVC and then ebay. Waiting to see the specials on QVC myself. On ebay I have had great success with a person that goes by intrinsic_ ??? can't remember the rest. She donates portion of her profits too. BONUS

I am in my early 50's (that is still hard for me to admit) and have been using this product for going on 4 years now. I kick myself for waiting so long to start. Kept think it can't be that good (I don't trust infomercials). I can't imaging using anything else every again.

Most people place me about 15 years younger than I am and the answer is almost always the same, "but you have such great skin for your age".

I started with the kit off the infomercial with all the brush and I try and get kits from QVC to supplement for color and additional brushes. The kits there save you so much money over buying thing individually.

BE is great in humid climates too.

About every two or three months BE thread pop up here and on the community board. You may want to do a search and see how widespread the fan base is for this product.

Love, Love, Love this stuff...did I mention I love it!?! I bought my starter set at the salon because I wanted to pick the proper shades for my skin. I do not look powdery or made up at all. It is very natural and enhances your looks. You really only need very little and it is essential that you twirl, tap and buff or you may look like you are too powdery. I have never been happier with make-up and I never regretted what I spent on it--of course my refills are purchased on e-bay. ;)

Thanks for the all advice and comments! I will wait for the QVC show & see if they have a good deal on a starter kit & go from there.

I'm having lots of difficulty with the search feature (maybe its my browser), even tried a google search with the disboards domain, but I couldn't get anything to come up for me so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask here. :)

Why do you like the mascara? I ask because I've been looking for a good mascara for a long time! I've gone through three this year! Everyone I find clumps no matter what. Thanks for any input!

Two good choices to try:

Loreal Feather Lash - it's creamy and I've never had a problem with flaking. Aprox $7.00 at Target

Chanel has a gel based mascara. I can't remember the name of it. Le Cils maybe?? I really like this one - but, it is expensive and they discontinued my color (bronze) - so, I began looking for a less expensive brand. Aprox $20 at a Department store that carries Chanel cosmetics.

Neither of these are water proof.

I've never tried BE because I live in such a dry climate and have very dry skin. I am afraid it would be too dry for me. I use 3 layers of various Estee Lauder moisturizer stuff and then use Chanel powdered/makeup compact stuff. It works better than anything I've tried so far. I don't like the feel of makeup on my skin and thought BE might be something I'd like. Maybe I'll see a good trial kit on QVC on Monday to try.

Would these cosmetics be the equivalent of the Pur Minerals that we can get in Canada? On the infomercials they really look great.

I've been interesting in trying BE...any" women of color " tried any of these products. I've been wearing Mary Kay for the past 3 years and they decided to change the packaging and the shades of the foundations have changed slightly. Any experiences would be appreciated.

When they have BE on QVC they have ladies with all skin tones on there demonstrating. They all look Wonderful.

I have been using BE for a few months now and I Love it.I have never ever had makeup I like as much as BE.It feels as if you have nothing on.It also looks so natural.

Definetly wait till the QVC special and they have some great specials on there.

I can get search to work most of the time it linking threads that won't work for me. I bumped one over on the community board. There were a bunch there - search, Bare Minerals or Bare Escentuals

Sandy-thanks, I keep trying but get error messages, maybe my Firefox browser. I'm on my way over to the CB to check them out~
:)

I use their eyeshadow. I love the color, the only thing I don't like is that it is a loose powder -so you always have to be careful when you open it, and it can be very difficult to control how much of it goes on the brush/falls off the brush all over. I do love the color, the purity, and the way it looks though.

mineral veil is a must have for me. Couldn't live without it!

Hi,

I'm curious to know if anyone uses Philosophy products. QVC has been selling them and they sound great. I was given a complete make-up kit by Philosophy as a gift, years ago, and I LOVED it. I used it all up!! It looked like a book and had a snap closure with 2 tiers inside, it had EVERYTHING included to do a complete make-up job! It was perfectly portable but they don't carry it anymore. :(

I would love to know your opinions comparing these two products.

Thanks. :wave2:

Yep, I do. I'm not a big makeup person, in fact I used to never wear it. I've gotten into BE and although I still don't put it on on a daily basis, when I go out somewhere(dinner, etc.) I wear it and feel totally comfortable in it. To me, it dosen't feel like I have anything on my face. HTH

I just LOVE Bare Escentuals. I am in my 40's and have been using it for about 4 years now, I can't imagine using another brand. I started getting adult acne in my late 30's and it disappeared when I started using the foundation.

I use two shades, I mix medium and medium tan as foundation. I use bisque as an eyeshadow base and java as my eye shadown color. I use the lipstick in the mocha shade and use the brush less wand in black as my mascara.

The only thing I don't use is eye liner, I still use Avon's glimmersticks, have been for 20 years or so, just love them and I would bet they are Avon's #1 seller and at about $4 a stick, a great bargain.

My 16 yo daughter also wears BE exclusively and it looks so natural on her. My 70 yo mother also wears the foundation and loves the SPF factor in it. I also have two neices and one sister who wear it exclusively too. Once you get used to the light feeling of the make up it is almost impossible to go back to heavy liquid foundation.

I think it has great coverage and like someone else mentioned, the BE brushes are superior and unless you use them ( I am addicted to the kabuki brushes ) you aren't really getting the full affect of the product.

Someone mentioned Philosophy, I love their fragrances and their body washes but I have not had success with thier facial products, I find they cause a lot of clogging of my pores but I do think they are very high quality.

Sephora has just about everything that is sold on TV in their stores, if you live near one I would recommend going into the store and just playing around with different produces and seeing what you like.

The great thing about buying on QVC is that you can return it, I can't imagine returning foundation at Sephora's, I would be embrassed too

Enjoy!

Don't use a cheaper brush you already have--spring the extra $ and use the BE brushes. You can save quite a bit buying them on Ebay--they are quite expensive on QVC if you buy them outside of a kit. All of the kits come with the BE brushes, so no worries there.

I ordered one of their brushes, I think it may have been Kabuki? But I am very disappointed in it. It is literally falling apart. Everytime I apply my make-up, I end up with tiny hairs all over my sink and the front of my shirt from the brush shedding (it's getting shorter and shorter each time I use it!) Has this not happened with anyone else? I'd rather use a cheap brush, than an expensive one that is no better quality. I do LOVE the make-up though!
