Anyone try making fufu recipe from allearsnet?

OK, so DH was having post-vacation blues, and I decided to cheer him up by making him the fufu from BOMA, one of his favorites. I got the recipe from allearsnet, and the end product was so not like the fufu we ate. My major point here is that I can bake, cooking not as well. Maybe I went wrong somewhere (although it was an exceedingly straightforward recipe), but has anyone else tried making it and had it turn out wonky?

I can try to help, but what exactly was different--flavor, texture etc...?

I have not tried to make fufu but I did make the grapefruit cake from THe Hollywood Brown Derby. It turned out alright but it is always better when someone else makes it.

It tasted too potatoey-starchy vs the lighter sweet potato flavor, and it was very dark colored, almost a brownish, and seemed too spiced...Do you think the recipe meant 2 tsp and not 2 Tablespoons of the spices?
