HI DIS friends,

Well, yes, I'm trying to lose weight. I'm 5'8 1/2" and currently weigh 153 lb. I was 137 lbs before I got pregnant. I have a 2 month old now that I'm nursing. I've been trying to lose some more pounds but I JUST CAN'T DO IT. Haven't lost a pound for about 6 weeks now.

Yes, cuz of nursing I give in to one too many cookies, etc. But I keep my rule and don't eat after 7:00 p.m.

Anyone else have the same issue? Any other tips?

Thanks!

Eat healthy is my only suggestion.

Weight Watchers has a modified plan for nursing and I believe that on South Beach, you can start directly with phase 2 (I had a friend who tried phase 1 and it began to cause her milk to go dry).

You are just over 16 pounds of where you were at...so you are doing awesome!!! (I was a good 6 months before I was that close).

Eat when you are hungry--but make sure it is a healthy option (i.e. no more cookies ;)).

I nursed all three of my kids and usually lost right at first and then nothing until I stopped nursing and could diet. Many things I have read say 9 months on, 9 months off. My baby is 11 months and I still have 20 pounds to lose so you are ahead of me! I have a good friend who has nursed all three of hers for a year. She's always back to her normal weight at about the 6 month mark with no dieting, but she does exercise almost every day. Everybody is different so I wouldn't stress too much about it. I am sure you are not sleeping, and I have also read that people lose weight better if they get 8 hours of sleep. Enjoy your baby and nurse as long as you had planned or can. It is the best thing!

There is a book called Eat Well, Lose Weight While Breastfeeding by Eileen Behan. Your local library might have a copy. You can also try contacting La Leche League in your area. Many groups maintain a lending library.

Drink plenty of fluids. Go on walks with your baby. I've seen some postnatal workout videos at my library - that might be worth looking into. Not sure if you are cutting cals, but make sure you are getting at least 1800/day.

I agree with "9 months to put it on, at least 9 months to take it off". But no matter what, while you'e nursing please keep your focus on eating healthy, not losing weight. I remember being MORE hungry while nursing than while pregnant. AND WATER,WATER,WATER!! My doc required me to drink at least 10 glasses a day while nursing.

Weight Watchers is the only thing that ever helped me lose weight, and they do adjust points for nursing moms.

How's your weather? Get that baby in the stroller and start walking!

Almost 2 years ago I lost 20 lbs in 4 months on WW. I did it to get ready for a trip and not since then. I was trying to get back to pre 3rd baby weight of 175 Now I went from 203 to 183 lbs. but it works.

Since then it has slowly been creaping back on (weaned almost a year ago) and have gained about 10 pounds since then. (thanks to stress and Dips) Time for me to get back on the wagon and lose it and the rest I want to. I still weigh about 5 less than we I got married before the kids and with our 10th Anniversary soon (trip) I want to look even better than when he married me.

(I tend not to gain much weight preggo and lose right away after birth but with nursing I always was so hungry I gained a lot. After I had my 2nd dd and weaned I also lost 50 pounds (nursing gains of 2 kids plus then I was less than before married) with exercise, water and a little help of diet pills.)

I am trying to do better now with with 3 little ones watching me looking for a good role model.

Hi-- SeeDisney I just started visiting this forum and can't believe I saw your post, I have a 2 month old baby girl(I am nursing too) and I haven't lost anything for the past 6 weeks either, I am about 12lbs away from my pre pregancy weight which was about 30lbs over my target weight. I was planning on losing about 20lbs before I got pregnant and it just didn't happen so now I would like to lose a total of 45lbs, Yikes! I just have to do something I am totally miserable, I have bought one pair of fat pants and I refuse to buy more I need to at least fit into my prepregnancy jeans. When I was pregnant I felt pretty good about myself, I gained 37lbs which may be a lot for some but with my first two girls I gained about 50 so I was feeling really good about that but now I just hate the way I look and I am totally dreading the holidays. So anyway I think I am going to do the weight watchers online program, I read a section where they can do it for nursing Moms and that seems that safest way to lose weight now with out depleting my milk. I did online a while ago and I don't think I did it for very long because I got pregnant, but I remember it was so easy and I loved having all the info on my computer which is close to my kitchen. I also love your rule about not eating after 7 because that is truly my downfall snacking at night. Ok I am signing up then headed to the grocery for healthy food!
