Anyone tried the 10 day smoothie cleanse?

I've done juicing before or I'll make for breakfast but I've not done a cleanse before. I needed a jump start and got the JJ Smith book full of recipes.

I started day 1 yesterday and the green smoothie was really good. Much better than what I've tried in the past - enough sweetness to cut the taste of the greens.

I did breakfast and lunch fine and snacked on my raw unsalted nuts and drank tons of water but I had such a headache by late afternoon I caved when the kids got out the Fritos!! I only had 7 so not handfuls I guess.

I also opted to eat solid food for dinner to ease into it. We were at the water park all morning so I know I can get a headache from all that sun too.

Today's day 2 and a new recipe. Each day is a different recipe and you make it all (if you have a big blender) in the morning and divide it in thirds. I drank 1 and put 2 in drink bottles w wide mouth openings.

I was surprised the consistency was still nice after sitting in the fridge.

So I'm going to keep trying and I'll see how it goes. I admit my willpower stinks esp being home the kids in the summer :)

Just wondering if anyone else had done this and how were your results?

I haven't done this myself, but I am curious on how it's going? This is something that I may be interested in trying.

Thanks!

Today will start day 4 and I've woken up feeling good. Actually I've felt really good almost the whole time. Day 2 I was really cranky and generally one of those Mad at the World days but who knows that could be hormones or this 'diet' or the fact that it's summer break and I didn't go more than 10min without hearing "Mommy can you/we.... :rolleyes1"

So I've been really impressed with the taste of each day's smoothie. Like I said they're slightly different each day. I bought some 16oz mason jars to store them in (glass is better, doesn't stain from all the greens and doesn't retain the smells). That makes it so nice to make 1 batch then just grab the other 2 when you want them and the consistency is so smooth (just remember to give a little shake). I've made many smoothie recipes in the past and was never like "oh I'll have another please" but these are very pleasant. I do add a scoop of protein powder but I didn't on day 1 and it was really good. I do add a tsp of Stevia which I'd never done before so who knows.

She does have notes as to how to break up the recipes if you have a smaller bullet type blender.

Day 2 I only did the breakfast and lunch smoothie and ate real food for dinner. Mind you it wasn't healthy :goodvibes. We went to Canada a few yrs back and discovered Donairs :thumbsup2. OMG so good!! Well I found a recipe for the sauce and made some for DH and well I was not going to miss out so I had 1 (and half of my DS's).

I have not started the detox tea yet. I bought it but I guess I'm not a believer that tea will do anything but I guess it won't hurt to throw it in the mix.

I've only exercised 1x of those 3 days - not by choice but just busy busy summer plans. I'm down 3.4lbs after 3 days. But just remember you can't go back to bad habits after this. I'm using this as a jump start. I really feel good mentally and have a better love of exercise and really feel I have a better shot of maintaining a loss than I have in years past. SO yes you can drop 15lbs as this program claims but if you go back to hitting the fast food lanes you'll find yourself right back where you started.

If you like smoothies in general I think it's a good book for the recipes alone. Like I said I've tried many from Dr Oz to things on pinterest but these have been the best tasting IMO.

I'll keep posting updates for anyone interested over the 10days.

Off to try my tea!!

Thanks for the update! It sounds like you are doing great and have such a positive attitude :)

I've tried smoothies & juices before and always want actual food so this may be something I look into for a meal replacement for breakfast & lunch.

Good luck with your remaining days!

PS I hear you on the summer vacation with kids. DS11 has asked way too many times to go fishing!!

It sounds interesting! Is there a website that outlines how to do it?

I could use a jump start.

ETA: i have made some great green smoothies. But it's been just now and then. Like you guys, the kids being off for summer has opened up many more temptations and reduced my planning and prep time. So realistically I might not be able to get on track until they return to school. Hopefully once I have established some routines, I can maintain them. Getting ideas to try now though.

She has a website jjsmithonline. It doesn't detail the plan (have to buy the book) but it tells about it and success stories etc.

The smoothies were really good - some of the better ones I've tried. I went through day 8 and felt really good. I had a couple unexpected life challenges that came up and things really threw me off track for a few weeks. But I did feel great and I saw significant changes in my belly.

I think if you look up jj smith on facebook she's on there too and posts support etc.

It is a jumpstart for sure. You have to keep up w/ better choices to maintain that achievement - which I didn't do so well at  but that's life. I think I'm ready to get back on it again and try again!

Thank you! I will look at the website and look into getting the book. :)

I was doing well too at first with the smoothies. It definitely takes planning and prep work. I was feeling pretty good. Time management is such a huge factor. Summer activities has thrown a major monkey wrench in all planning and prep work. It's all about getting to and from these days! But I have my eye on getting on track! I have all the pieces in place it's just the time component.

I really think once I have it "down" so to speak it will get easier. I was experimenting before. After I have a routine it should be better to maintain.

I must say the mason jar thing was amazing! Making a giant portion of smoothie and drinking one then having 2 more in the fridge was awesome. Just grab one as a snack or lunch. It helped a lot.
