Because I at least want to have that, and I don't. Looking for AKL in late Nov/early Dec. Thanks!

No, we were told that the new discount wouldn't save us as much as the AAA rate by our agent. (Of course, we have to take her word on this!)

Going to WL December 12-19

I just switched our discount from AAA discount to the QXD code and saved $635 on our two rooms at POP from 11/1-11/9

How could it not save you more? Something seems fishy with your AAA rep?

I did. I had a room only ressie booked at POFQ for 3 nights in October w/a AAA rate. I had not yet purchased any tickets or package options because I wanted to see what might come out discount wise.

I just rebooked with the fall getaway code and got to keep my 3 nights at POFQ (had to go standard though rather than king), with a 1 day MYW ticket (no hopper/no water park & more) and the dining plan for only $96 more!!! VERY EXCITED!!!!

I also have a friend who is going in December and she was able to upgrade from ASMovins to POR for only $50 for her whole trip!!

I had a AAA room only booked at POFQ for OCT 18th-25th for a little over $1100.00. Now I have the same nights, same resort plus 7 day PH tickets for two on a total of $1344.28.

The new code saved me about $350.

I would not take AAA's word for it that you won't save money using the new code.

You should price your package online with the codes to check.

The AAA rate only gives you a % off the room. Usually 10% off for deluxe resorts.

This new code is saving around 35% off the room. You need to call disney and check for availability with the code. You can always cancel your AAA rate.

No, you don't have to take her word on it. Go to the Disney site and put in your info and it will give you the rate, then call her back and tell her to do it right. If she isn't willing to do it and you don't have the insurance, I would cancel with her and re-book with Disney or ask for another agent. I had to switch AAA offices because the local rep wasn't doing her job and was treating me like crap and I have a great agent now.

I found that for room only December 10-17 2008 the AAA rate is better than the AP rate. Unfortunately a CRO CM changed part of my split stay reservation to the AP rate before confirming the price difference and I am ending up paying a little bit more than my original reservation. :sad2: :sad2:
Savings sound like they're a lot better on packages and codes than AP rates in some cases.

Changing from the AAA rate to a rate with a GP code saved me almost $150 for a 6 night stay at POR 12/13 - 12/29 - that's not a HUGE savings, but I'LL TAKE IT!!

My son changed from an AAA rate to an AP rate for POR for 12/13 - 12/23 (he gets APs as part of wedding package) and saved $512.20!!

There were no AAA discounts available when I booked (and none since). I'm paying rack right now, and like *an idiot*, I bought tickets because everyone said the prices were going up. :sad2: Ah well, Live and learn.

But if anyone gives up their AAA room, I'm hoping to at least get that.

I booked through AAA originally and just called and had the code applied to my existing reservation...Saved another 325.00...WOOHOO

We saved 1100.00 from our AAA rate to the new code on 4 rooms. You should for sure plug in the dates yourself on the Disney website if your agent won't do this. There were good instructions on using the website if you need them I'll post it for you.

OP - I was told the same thing but by two different CMs (I tried calling back in case the first one was wrong). Both told me the room only code rate (GP or AP) was not as good as the AAA rate I had for AKL. Perhaps this is only with the AKL? I am also going late Nov./early Dec.
I think people who booked packages or moderates or values got better deals. But I don't think I've read of someone who booked a room only at a deluxe with a better rate. I keep waiting though... I will probably call one more time and try again!

I know I couldn't get better on the room only code for Dec vs. my AAA rate. I was very surprised it was only for 20%.

As for the pkgs... We were staying at CR -tower MK view and all I could get was garden wing so we decided to stay w/ AAA and not change to the Code.

Maybe you already tried this, but you can still price out the new code even though you already have tickets. Just drop the tickets down to one day, no hopper or water parks. Then see what your rate is.

I was able to trade in our AAA rate on a long-time existing Beach Club reservation for an AP discount for Dec. It didn't save us all that much (maybe $100 overall) because we lost any discount for fri-sat but it was still worth it. Yeah, they did try and rebook those fri-sat nights under AAA with a different res #, however it turned out as soon as I gave up the original res the AAA discounts were all gone for those dates.

Long story short(er).. we could, we did and we're happy to save a few bucks.

Good luck!!

PS the AAA discount isn't all that bad. We have the AAA card and booked directly with Disney.

We used a code posted on dis today and rebooked our rooms (originally used AAA rates for BC and WL). We were able to save almost $300!!

We traded in our AAA room at CBR for a QXD code at AKL. We are spending about $300 more but it's worth it to us.

I think our TA said if we stayed at CBR we would've saved about $280.

Okay, I decided not to take my AAA agent's word for it and ran the numbers for our stay at the Wilderness Lodge December 13-19 through the WDW website. Turns out our agent was right! Our AAA rate is about $100 less than the discounted Disney rate. (Now of course over rack rate there is a substantial savings.) So we will be sticking with our AAA reservations unless something better comes out. Bummed about not saving any money with the Disney discount, but it's good to know I have an honest TA.

We did. Dec 17 - 25 at Pop with 1-day tix & DDP. Was originally approx 2400 through AAA, but with new AP code went down to under $1900!!! My terrific non-local AAA agent's partner (my agent was on vacation) called on the first day and was able to get us the discount. I was already considering the AP, and this was the icing on the cake as the general code was about $150. more.

Sooooo excited - didn't even ask about moderates because I've been agonizing about whether it was even financially possible. Now it is!!
