Anyone stockpiling food?

No stockpiling. I am not the stockpiling type so I guess I'll be screwed if there's an apocalypse. I don't even run to the grocery store when there is an actual predicted snow storm. I hit the liquor store and maybe grab some take out.

How impractical. One kid sneezes into his hand and touches a handrail, drinking fountain, pencil sharpener, etc and it's contaminated. You can't walk around a school non-stop for 10 hours a day wiping everything down in sight.

The local news here is showing how the subway turnstyles & handrails in the subways are being wiped downwith bleach & cleaners every 72 hours. Yeah, that will be really helpful. The amount of people who touch them every hour makes that useless. It also makes me wonder, if they have to advertise they are cleaning these, are they NOT usually cleaned? :scared:

Plus, they've been showing video clips of how the transit workers are doing the cleaning. Doing a random swipe here and then there. All they are doing is smearing around the bacteria & the virus and possibly lifting it up to be easier to get on one's hands. :crazy2: According to the back of a bleach bottle and most disinfectants, the surface has to remain wet with the disinfectant for 10 min. These guys are barely giving a wipe with a damp, well used, cloth. This only gives people who don't know better, a false sense of security. :scared:

I also wonder if this isn't an idea for a great sci-fi horror movie? :scratchin Decades, old, long forgotten viruses that had become embedded under 100 layers of dirt & germs on top, and have been lying dormant under all those layers, have become exposed, as mediocre cleaning only removed the top layers, releasing the old - now new viruses. While lying dormant, they've mutated and gained a resistance they hadn't had before and now they are unstoppable. :scared1:

I'm in NH and from what I have seen and heard from others, you cant find hand sanitizer. I think Clorox wipes are getting to be in short supply. Everything else appears to be stocked as normal.

I haven't stockpiled for this, but I am the type of person to stock up on good sales throughout the year, so we always have over a two week supply of anything that we might want/need.

Ok, calm down and take a deep breath...wait, no, that'll kill you.

Calm down and eat...canned tomatoes! I heard they are a miracle cure. Let me know, I can hook you up...

I'm going to the Celine Dion concert tomorrow nite. That had better not get canceled.

Me too! I admit I am like "can we wait til after Celine for this to snowball into ridiculousness, thanks!"

Ooh! Tomatoes are very acidic. Again, your DH may have saved you both. Maybe the tomato acid can be used to wipe down & kill the Coronavirus. He may actually have found the antidote! :thumbsup2

YES!!!

And Celine had better not expect us to do any Kumbaya hand-holding during her Titanic song.

I can see everyone in the audience going, "Nope! Hell NO! Not doing that!" :scared:

Uh oh. I opened our last can of tomatoes last night for chili. :scared1::scared::faint:
Don't worry. I know a guy. Just say the word
YES!!!

Far, far, as long as you're far, I know that my heart (and lungs and upper respiratory system) will go on...

This is a typical NYC subway platform on an average, non-Coronavirus day at rush hour:

And that's me, way up, center back, by herself. :thumbsup2:lmao:

Honey has also been shown to help kids not cough as much, especially at night. It has been a great thing for our family, since kids don't have the cold meds options that adults do.
The people in my two particular stores don’t seem all that concerned about the kids. Meds for kids fully stocked in the pharmacy area and baby section. (Was curious about what was there or not in the baby isles.) I know they say kids don’t seem to be getting the virus but if you’re going to be holed up for two weeks wouldn’t you want to have stuff on hand your kids just in case? It just shows people aren’t really thinking things through. It was plain, old, run of the mill honey bears btw.
Inside Edition, had a segment on making alcohol wipes. It's basically aloe vera gel, rubbing alcohol and a couple drops of essential oil, like lavendar, for a scent.

Shampoo can actually be used as hand soap. Soap is soap. It's just usually more highly scented than hand soap.
I have alcohol and aloe so I could use that for DD’s trip if needed though I just remembered I might have a stash of Wet Ones in my upstairs bathroom. We only really use them when we go to places like Disneyland. Otherwise it’s just good old fashioned soap and water.

I just thought the fully stocked Shampoo and body wash was funny. Like it doesn’t occur to these people who are prepping for the end of the world that they might need a shower or two. Everyone will have clean hands but greasy hair and BO. 😂

Yes and no. Just how many bags are we talking about. In my ice box I have around 40 lbs of assorted fudge, candy and high end chocolate.
Well, ... not bags. The big plastic containers that they sell at Sam’s Club. So far I have 3 plain and 3 peanut. Thinking about buying more to fill Easter eggs in case this lasts that long. DH thinks I am crazy!

The aloe is basically so the alcohol doesn't dry out the hands. And to thicken up the alcohol so the wipes aren't sopping wet. Make sure you get a rubbing/Isopropol alcohol with a high alcohol content. Walgreens has one with 91% alcohol. Inside Edition, said vodka could be used in a pinch. But make sure the vodka is 150% proof - which is actually 75% alcohol. Bacardi rum, sells a 151-proof bottle that is 75.5 percent alcohol. :drinking1 <-- Oh wait, you're supposed to use it on your hands.

I actually have extra packages of makeup wipes. I wonder if I can just pour in a lot of alcohol into the wipes packages? :scratchin

Well, that will certainly keep people the required 6ft away. :lmao:

Well it’s a middle school trip to Disneyland so maybe I should skip the Bacardi. 😂 DH just got up so I’m going to check and see if I have any stashed. If I do maybe I’ll sell them on eBay for $100 a pop and then make my own. 😁

Oh, I think you will definitely be needing the rum, in your hotel room in the evenings. And NOT for disinfecting the hotel room. :drinking1;)
Hell, I’m not going. A bus full of middle schoolers? I’d rather stick a fork in my eye. Got two to contend with at home, that’s plenty. I’m guessing with cases popping up in CA the PTA moms are going to swoop in and demand it be canceled out of “an abundance of caution.” It’s one month from today so we’ll see what happens.
