Anyone Staying at POP CENTURY Aug 21-27?

I leave tommorow with my parents for Port Orleans French Quarter from July 28 - August 3, and I just found out I'm returning at the end of August!

My sisters boyfriend decided that he did not want to spend the money to go to Walt Disney World after he originally said he would! Instead my mother and I are going to join my sister so that she still gets to go!

What's great is that he thinks it's not worth the price, yet they are getting FREE DINING. I don't see going somewhere else as being much cheaper after you add airfare, hotel, and food. Oh well, I get a second trip (for $275 that is).

We haven't requested a section, but I'm going to have my sister put in for 50's facing Hourglass Lake just like I had last year in August! "Water" view at a Value, it rules!

I check in 8/22 - check out 8/25. I haven't made a room request so I'm betting I won't be anywhere near the 50's! :rotfl2: Ya'll haven't saved me a room. I'm traveling alone....a get away from everybody trip. I need a few days when I only need to please myself. My 18yo son is a little miffed I'm not taking him but he'll get over it. :teeth:

Oh Carolyn, didn't you know they save special rooms in the 50's building for us Carolinians. Sure wish you were bringing your son. My son just turned 19 and is a little bummed that he might have to hang out some with his 12 year old sister.

Dis Party in the 50's Building!!!!! :cool1:

We'll be staying there from 8-21 to 8-26. A lot of DISers going late August! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: We'll be staying at the Pop and requested Lake View. Hopefully, we'll get it! :)

Count us in. We are going August 21st - 28th at POP. I also requested the 50's section. If we don't get it, we will still have fun! :goodvibes

I have my lime green mickey head from home depot so if you see me say hi!

DSis and I will be at POP Aug 20-26th. We too have requested the 50's building ! Maybe they should just block out the building and upon check-in, if you say "DIS Lime Green" you get assigned to the building !!! :rotfl2:

I'll be on the lookout for lime green and this time will definitely approach people and ask "do you DIS ???"

My kids were a little bitter about my trip without them, but when I reminded my DD8 that she will be going on trip #10 to WDW in October for 2 weeks, she agreed to "get over it" ! :teeth:

See you all there !

I'll be there from Aug 21-26. I haven't requested a room location. Can anyone explain why the 50's building is so popular (besides the cool memorabilia, of course)? :cheer2:

Is it close to the bus stops or the pool or the lobby? (Less walking, more fun!) ;)

I'll be sure to carry the lime green mickey everywhere!

This will be our first time to POP. It's my understanding the location of the 50's building is very convenient to everything. Also, there are some areas from the 50's building where you can view the fireworks at Epcot in the evenings.

This was on another thread and is an awsome idea. Thought people on this thread may be interested

Want to know who's going to the World when you are? READ INSIDE!
Ok for the past two weeks I have been working on a cool project that I think everyone will love. I had originally made this for Wilderness Lodge but requests came in for the other resorts so I expanded it.

I created a database system that will allow you to enter the dates you are going and search to see who else will be there when you are going!! I call it, "Who's Going".

There are 3 main pages.

1) The main search page. You can search based on a number of criteria but you don't need to use ALL of them. For example, if you wanted to see who is going in January of 2004 you would select January as the month and 2004 as the year.

2) The ADD records page. This is obviously where you would add your stay information. Take note of the password you use as you can use it later to edit or remove your record.

3) The EDIT record page. This is where you can return to change your dates OR delete your entry if need be. Make sure you use the password you entered on the add record page.

I think this will be fun. Heck, there are already over 60 entries in the database.

My DD and I are going last week in Aug before she goes back to college. Also, want to req the 50's bldg too.
Is the 4th floor the best than the others?

We just returned from Pop 2 weeks ago. We were in 50s Bldg C on the fourth floor (room 3433). We had a view of Spaceship Earth, could see some of Illuminations and one night we could even see the high parts of Wishes.

I'm sure my son will probably be scoping your daughter out. There want be a need for a lime green mickey to find us. If you happen to see a clean cut tall dark haired boy with glasses in the vicinity of your daughter don't be alarmed ... he really is a nice boy. He works FT and attends community college in the evening where he studies criminal justice. I told him if he would hang out some during the day at the parks with his sister then at night he could do his own thing. Speaking of little sisters. DD is 12 and your son is how old ..... hummmmmmmmmmm????? Unfortunatly (or perhaps fortunatly) she is still at the phase where if a boy speaks she runs unless he is challenging her at some kind of sport.

My son sure wishes I was bringing him too! I was going to say I see a 17yo daughter in someone elses post but I see she found you. :teeth:

I'm going to look out for everybody. If I'm stuck way at the other end I'll just walk out into the middle of the courtyard of the 50's building and holler. I'm sure someone from DIS will hear me.

I was just curious with all of us being on the dining plan where do you plan to dine during your stay. The places I have chosen in Epcot does not appeal to my children so that will be a little private time for me and dh. I'm still hoping to choose something for the 26th. Also my dd just turned 12 and there are a few places I know the children's menu will appeal to her more so I hope to save some Table Credits with her to use on the 26th. I understand that she must order as an adult at the buffets but I think she can still order off the children's menu at the other place. I'll just pay those out of pocket. I noticed alot of you have children 10-12 years old. What do you plan on doing about their meals?

21st – Concourse Steak House 7pm
22nd – 50’s Prime Time 5:05 pm
23rd – Crystal Palace 8:05am
23rd – CRT 5:55pm
24th – San Angel Inn 11:30 am
24th – Le Cellier 6:10 pm
25th – Whispering Canyon 5:30 pm
26th - ???

I don't know if I mentioned early but my dh and I are middleage honeymooners! We just got married in May and only took a couple days off after wedding so we are calling this our "family honeymoon" trip. Although dh is already very close to the children I think this will be a great bonding time for all of us.

This is our dinig choices We are going Aug 28- Sept 3. There is myself DH, 3DS 11,13, and 14. My husband is diabetic so we have to eat fairly regularly.

Since you are going to be the one watching out for everyone I have a special request. There's a group of 6 friends there for a few days just prior to going on a cruise. I think the DIS Member goes by "MILEMRKR63". If you could keep an eye out for these people I'm sure this is where the partying will take place. Your job is to inform all the other DIS Members where the party is taking place. :cool1:  :dancer: :drinking:

By the way "MILEMRKR63" just what is at mile marker 63? Curious minds want to know.
