I had asked about Candy Cane Inn...today I saw the Ayres Hotel is #1 on Tripadvisor and on other sites is has outstanding reviews. It is 2 miles away so you need to factor that into costs (time/hassle/parking fee). Any reviews on this hotel from experts here??

I have yet to stay at that one on Katella, but I have stayed at over 5 others in the so cal area. I have been super impressed and happy with all of them. The rooms are lush, and roomy. The service has always been great. And for the money, it can't be beat. By far one of my fave chains in the area. The pics they post on the site look just like the rooms we have stayed in. If not having to be in walking distance isn't an issue, then I would stay there.

We stayed there it is REALLY nice. They have a great breakfast. Comfortable beds and really clean rooms.
We did drive to the park, but it is very easy to get there. I had a PAP so the parking cost was taken care of. We had always stayed within walking distance before but it worked out really good. One time my sister did need to take a taxi back to the hotel. I do not remember how much it cost but it was worth it.

I have stayed there last june. It was a great location if you are going to see the ducks @ the arrowhead pond or see the angels @ angel stadium just across highway 57.

The service was really nice and they let us check-in early. The rooms are very nice and the furniture is very nice. It has the basic ammenities such as microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, etc. It has internet access, but it is only wired only no wifi, but it was very quick than normal internet. The full breakfest was great, better than those continental breakfest at other hotels.

The only downside I have with this hotel is that if you are not planning to drive to the dlr parking lot, the art transit goes all the way toward the ayres hotel. The bad part is that it takes as long as 20 to 25 min for the art bus to get back. When I was there when we missed the bus, it took around 30 minutes for the bus to get back when the park was closing.

If you don't care about distance, this is the perfect hotel to stay for both disneyland and watching nhl ducks or mlb angels. We went to see the angels play during the time i stayed there and was great.
