I know, I know...this is beyond silly, but if anyone could take a second to send a prayer or a "well wish" our way we would be super grateful! You see, DH and I have been doing a little home improvement project. Totally DIY. While we are (so far) on the right track and things looking fabu, we are NOT the "Handy Manny" folks at all. So anytime we do these things, there is a lot of baited breath!

Tonight we have to tackle a particularly tricky part of the renovation. And by WE, I mean my awesome DH. We tore out our old cultured marble circa 1978 counter top and put down granite tile...OURSELVES! I am shocked and thrilled to report that the counter top looks radiant! Black granite 12x12 tiles. Grout lines are straight, tiles even. Almost professional looking.

Tonight we have to drill the hole for the sink and faucet. THIS is the tricky part. DH has picked the brains of the HOme Depot, Lowes guy and the guy who we hired to tile the bathroom floor. He has the right tools...now it's just the execution.

He's petrified he is going to ruin the countertop, crack the tiles, mess up the hole etc. So, if you could...send a prayer that we can complete our little home improvement project without any snafus! It's one of the few things we've done for ourselves and the house since we moved in 7 years ago. We are real proud of what we've done so far and I can see the end! Thanks!

I will post pics when it's all done...God willing!

You want a prayer? You've got it! :goodvibes

A quick suggestion though.. Try googling this task that he has to do tonight to see if you can find a video of it being done.. Sometimes "seeing" it is much more helpful than "hearing" people tell you how to do a project..:)

Good luck - and keep us posted! :goodvibes

Prayers for you & your DH!

We look forward to seeing the pictures and hearing it went smoothly!:goodvibes

Thanks everyone. We've been watching videos on DIY and youtube almost obsessively...probably how we got ourselves into this whole "that looks easy! WE can do that!" renovation craze. He's got the drill in hand now...here goes nuthin'!

C.Ann is right, look for some videos online. I like to go to YouTube as they seem to have a lot of videos by DIY types. Good luck to you both! :goodvibes

TC.

Well thoughts, good vibes, prayers, luck and thoughts sent your way... but you'd BETTER post some pics of your LOVELY sink hole once it's all said and done. (Feel free to add the sink first) :goodvibes :thumbsup2

I will send a prayer for you...Please post pics when it is done so we can see that great project....

One hole completed without incident! So we'll eventually have a sink.

Now onto the faucet hole.

Not silly at all. Wishing you guys the best. You'll do great.

Can't believe you have been there seven years already. I recall when you were asking for prayers when you were trying to purchase your horse farm and stables. Time sure does fly.

Please tell me that you had the laptop at the jobsite and that you were posting during the breaks!? I can just picture you running off to post on the DIS while your poor husband is left holding a heavy piece of marble. :lmao:

Anyway, I'm glad it all worked out. Now you will spend the next few days admiring the fantastic job that you both did. :woohoo:

Babe, just hold that slab o'granite for a second...I gotta go post a DIS update!

:lmao:

No no...he had to drill the two holes (about 2" wide) for the vessel sink and the vessel-sink faucet. He actually asked me to leave the bathroom for the work so if he started crying after a mistake, I wouldn't see it.

All we have to do now is grout the countertop and backsplash, and install the sink/faucet.
