Anyone see their yearly WDW vacations ending???

Nope :) We love WDW and look forward to our trip every year - I can't imagine going anywhere else. Even with price increases and our crappy Canadian dollar, I still think we get more value out of our WDW trips than anything else we spend our money on.

2015 was truly my year of Disney and I was able to go 3 times. Dfi and I have a bounceback from September for this year to go on but that is it for the year. Due to the price increases we are starting to think that we will not be able to go back in 2017 and we have booked our 2017 honeymoon as a cruise because it's half the price of what a disneymoon would have cost.

We have been going to Disney yearly for approx. 10 years. We have had great times and our vacations have been memorable. I think after this year's trip (going in August for 10 nights, bounceback), we are probably going to start exploring other destinations. We used to feel Disney was a great value and great vacation but it has definitely gotten less attractive in the past 3 years or so. It's more crowded and has definitely gotten more expensive. The price of tickets for a 10 day trip is around $2K for our family, and that's just to visit the parks. We will take some years off and see how we feel. I will miss WDW but maybe it will feel more magical when we return.
I would think yearly trips (no matter what the price) would feel less magical every year .. just simply from seeing the same sights over and over (with not much changing). I would just think eventually no family can keep that pace up.

As for being more expensive? Just shave a day off the trip and you save more than the price increase.

As for being crowded? That is what this price increase is trying to solve. As much as we'd all love Disney tickets to say the stay (or be cheaper) .. if they were .. then even MORE people would go and it would be even more crowded at all times of the year. The price is sometimes what is a deterrent for crowds (whether we like it or not).

As for being less of a value? That is to be seen. For 2016 Disney does not seem to be that great a value for the price (considering the construction and the cost-cutting measures). Once the new lands opens? That is to be seen.

I'm only stepping foot on Disney property once during my 9 day trip, and not even one of the major parks. Just doing Typhoon Lagoon and dinner (maybe Boma)

We were Disney fans before we had our own lil girl but we definitely have gone more since she's been born

While I understand the cost and worrying about being less special with tons of visits; I disagree that the kids won't think it's magical.

Each time we go, our daughter has a different experience. We've gone in Feb, March, June and Oct. And she's been to both parks (DL and WDW and a cruise)

For us it was just the timing and the older she gets the more she can do.

So while I get for some it's burned out, I think it all depends on what types of trips you plan and trying to go for different things. We went for halloween last year and loved it and this year there's easter egg hunts while we're in the park. Each trip can be uniqu

We have also gone during different times of the year to keep it fresh and have new experiences. F&G festival in 2015, DL in September for mickeys halloween party(really enjoyed it), several years in December (which is our favorite)4th of July in 2004. Its fun this way.

We have been going once a year for about the last 10 years. Unfortunately we will probably be ending our yearly trips. Not necessarily because of all the negative reasons (which are annoying) but DD is heading off to college and our trips will probably be put on hold for a few years. DW has zero interest in an adults only trip...

since december 2014 I've been december 2014, march 2015, october 2015, and planning on march 2016, and already starting to look into planning 2017 if i can't squeeze one more in 2016

We just bought a DVC so we will continue to go 1-2 times a year for the near future. The cost increase is not affecting us too much. As far as diluting the experience by going too often, there are always new things every year plus I don't feel the pressure to get everything in. Last trip, we experienced Halloween and had a great time and stayed at POFQ for the first time! Next trip in June, staying at a different place (Boardwalk with DVC points) and trying out 3-4 new to us restaurants and gain to see Disney Springs, meeting Olaf, hopefully the new night show at AK and new Frozen stuff. I am still hoping Inside Out characters will appear. Next trip in December, taking 14 family members so that will be a new experience for all of them. After that we plan to go to DLR next summer and Hawaii in 5 years. I imagine our trips may go down to every other year eventually. Our trip locations are more limited due to DH so WDW is where we want to be.

We got in three trips with APs this year I am hoping to get APs every other year but they are so expensive especially since we go during the more expensive time period and would have to get the platinum passes.

I went every year for a while. Then it switched to every other year. I'm now looking at every other year to Orlando with 1 trip being Disney heavy and the next being Universal heavy. (I have a few No Expiration tickets at each parks left I'm going to divvy out slowly) I went did a Universal/Sea World trip + 1 day at Disney January 2015. My trip before that was January 2013. I'm hoping to take a trip this December but hoping it will be Disneyland instead of WDW. My last trip to Disneyland was before Carsland was open and Haunted Mansion was closed for holiday change over. So, my next big trip to WDW may be 2018-2019. I may wait for Avatarland to open and possibly Toy Story Land.

We made 5 trips last year (with an annual pass that expires 3/27) and are making a water park only trip in July. We are taking a Disney Cruise in March but have no plans on going back into the parks until possibly October 2017

Our son, who will be 8, loves going still and I see us going yearly until he doesn't want to go any longer.

I love Disney but with the crowds and prices I don't know if I can justify another annual pass either

Ours already have ended. We stopped going yearly a couple years ago and we just sold our DVC ownership. For us the value isn't there anymore.

I think it natural to reconsider WDW vacations, especially if one has been a frequent visitor, and yes increasing costs are understandably a factor for most people. My family, and parents have been big WDW/DL fans since thne 1970s and my family since the 1990s. I personally have 15 trips, my parents close that number, and each of my kids 5 each. But those were all over a decade or longer as with cost and interest in other vacations and places to see we were never annual visitors, even though our extended family and friends would consider us WDW fanatics. When my kids were growing up we were able to manage WDW/DL trips every 2-3 years, 4-5 days each, staying on-site at value, off season, no meal plans many trips, having breakfast in the room, but yes the cost is going up. I am taking my daughter in early June for her 8th grade graduation gift, just the two of us for 5 days at cost of $2500+. So can appreciate families, especially those with larger number of kids, having to make choices about how often to visit WDW and also wanting their kids to see other places (between ages of 5-14) my kids have also been to DC, Chicago, Outer Banks, NY, San Fran, and USVI - each of which were expensive but less then WDW/DL. My wife and I made a choice to spend more on trips then cars or larger expensive house, and now with 20 old and 14 old kids, I feel the memories and experiences of all those trips were worth it.

We went three times in 2015 - more than we've ever been. I don't see us going back for a number of years unless we make a quick trip to Food and Wine in 2017. Other than that, my wife and I may not go back until we have kids. We're trying the cruise line for the first time next year. With how much it's costing to go to Disney World with the price increases on tickets and hotels, it was only $500 more to go on a Disney Cruise for five nights than to go to Disney World and rent DVC points for four nights - and we'll eat more than $500 worth of food at Disney in four nights. I'm disappointed in the fact that Disney keeps cutting more, expecting us to pay more, and they don't care. Unfortunately, this board is the minority of people that go, so we won't really have an impact even if everyone stopped going.

This is my perspective, and it won't match everyone's so keep that in mind, peanut gallery.

I have never been to the same place two years in a row. I would be bored to tears if I had to do that. Here are 5 years for me (and the cost):
2013 - Myrtle Beach, SC (~ $2,500 including oceanfront condo)
2014 - WDW (~$4,500 because we went during spring break like idiots)
2015 - Outer Banks, NC (~ $2,500 including a deep sea fishing trip - highly recommend!)
2016 - Orlando "Dark Side" (expecting ~$4,000 since we want to fly 1st class just once)
2017 - tropical cruise (no clue on this one; never cruised before)

I'm hoping for a trip to Hawaii one year. DD graduates in 2023, so maybe we can make that trip happen for her graduation gift.

I have friends that have gone to the same beach for 10+ years. I have friends that go to WDW every year for 10+ years. Same with the mountains (why anyone would want to spend a week on a tree-covered rock is beyond me :teeth:). One thing I've noticed with almost all of them is that the 'magic' of the trip is gone. They no longer notice the big things and nitpick the little things. I think it's sad. If the big magic has stopped for you, then you should definitely go do something else.

Don't be afraid to try something new!

I would think yearly trips (no matter what the price) would feel less magical every year .. just simply from seeing the same sights over and over (with not much changing). I would just think eventually no family can keep that pace up.

.
So what you're saying is Disney is unable to keep the parks fresh enough for people to be returning yearly. That's a true statement especially if you look at how terribly they neglected Epcot and DHS.

I just have to walk down Main Steet at least once a year.

We are going back in April and already have our trip planned for January of 2017, so not us. We travel elsewhere, but WDW is a tradition that I hope never to abandon.

We will be ending our yearly trips when our APs expire in August and won't consider coming back until all the "new lands" are open (2018? 2019?). The only exception will be if our middle DD gets into DCP. We'll probably continue to visit Orlando as we have un-activated APs for US/IOA, but we're going to take a break from WDW. The value just isn't there for us like it used to be.

Our yearly vacations as a family ended in 2011 (we started in 1999). Once the Deluxe resorts started charging a lot more, discounts weren't as deep, and ticket prices and dining all went up, we just stopped.
My DD and I have gone back for long weekends once a year at Value prices and offsite, up until 2014.
Last year we became AP holders at US/IOA. We did two trips as a family of five days. And DD and I did two more trips of five days. We went to DHS one night so we could see Osborne Lights.
This year we weren't planning on anything in Orlando, but DD and I are going to a convention and may tack on WDW for a few days after, but only because she wants to. I'm not particularly excited about it.

Every year, I think this might be the last year. But then we book again. :flower:
