I am seriously considering getting a Kindle and was wondering if anyone regretted getting one and if so why.

I know there are a whole bunch of threads reading the differences between each Kindle and then the differences between all the eReaders in general, but I don't need help with that. If I get one I already know which one I want.

Oh heck no. I adore my kindle. It goes everywhere with me. It was the single best purchase last year.

Nope, DH and I have two K2's that were bought when they were $$ and both of us agree that it was money well spent with no regrets. I actually got a K3 for Christmas (3G) and I love it even more than I loved my K2.

I love my Kindle also, and just a little boost for Amazon.

I bought the Kindle re-furb last Christmas for my mother who immediately rejected it, so it became mine. DS took it to school a few weeks ago and it suddenly broke (DS15, boy, etc) so you get the idea. I called Amazon, was honest with them and they sent me a new one. Great, or should I say Excellent customer service.

I have only purchased two books but have over 150. One book was out of print and DS needed it for school. (That's how my Kindle went to school in the first place).

Last month Kaplan opened up many of their study guides for free on the Kindle. I was able to get 8 -10 books total that my son and daughter could use. The savings on those books alone doubled the price I payed originally.

I do not have a bad word to say other than never let a 15year old boy bring it into an all boy cafeteria!!:scared1:

We currently have three - two K2's and one K3. They literally go everywhere with us. DH has one of the K2's and uses it daily. My K2 is my beach one - I take it when going someplace where it could get wet or something (not that it ever has). It still works perfectly. My K3 is because I just had to try one of them and the price was reasonable. I like it even better than the K2. We have no regrets and would buy them again in a minute. :lovestruc

I got one for my 15-year-old niece for Christmas. She is nuts about it. Hers also goes everywhere. Her school blocks Facebook on their wireless system, but she can pick it up on Whispernet on her kindle. :goodvibes

I downloaded about 30 of those to my Nook for our kids for AP tests, SAT/ACT tests. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

The only "complaint" I have heard from anyone with an e-reader is that they read books faster and too many of them :lmao:

Yes and no. I got one for Christmas as a present. Now I'm not a HUGE reader, I only read about a book every month or two.

Pro's:

*Compact; I can fit it easily in my purse even with a cover and it goes everywhere

*Convenient; It's super nice to just be able to virtually go to a store and buy a book in seconds instead of going to the library or book store or buying it online and waiting.

*Educational; If you don't know what a word means you highlight that word and it'll tell you. There's lots of tools that are handy while reading with the Kindle (many of which I'm still discovering!).

*Green (or should I say, greener than buying new books)

*You can find a lot of great free books

Con's (for me):

*I tend to re-read a lot of paragraphs as I read so it can be kind of annoying to 'flip' back and forth on the 'page'

*I always forget to plug it in :headache: but a full charge does last about 2 weeks (depending on usage and if you have wireless turned 'on')

*You can't 'borrow' books. I just read a book I really like (that I paid $10 for on Kindle but could buy in hard copy for $5 ) and want my co-worker to read but she's anti-ereaders and I don't want to give mine up while I move on to another book.

I do enjoy mine but I don't have the love and passion that others have for it. I will continue to read on it for many years to come I'm sure.

I love my kindle. It is worth it. I have a bout 50 books on it and it's so much better to carry that little thing around then a bunch of books.
It's perfect for travel also. I love it :lovestruc

Gracious no. My daughter and I often wonder what we did without them. It is a fantastic little device and amazon's customer service cannot be beat:goodvibes

That's certainly true for me!

I don't regret my kindle for the convenience - I love that it fits neatly into my purse and goes everywhere with me. Waiting on doctors etc. is now much easier and less painful.

But I do wish a few things were different. My kindle region is not the USA, so every book is automatically $2 more. I haven't managed to get a free book yet. I have been having trouble weeding out the good cheap books from the not so good, though I have found a few. E-lending isn't enabled for me yet. But, considering that a mass market paperback here is at least $11, as long as I can get a kindle book I like for less than that, I have come out ahead. I am not trying to make back the original cost of the kindle - to me that's a sunk cost.

My biggest problem with the kindle is that it's almost too easy to get books. I mean, just hit a button and within 30 seconds, there it is. If I'm not paying attention, the next thing I know is I've spent $50 on books in the span of minutes!

My friends love them. And no one I know regrets getting one. I don't have one and don't plan on getting one. I know they can be used for other things, but most people read on them. I will admit that I am an avid reading hater. I despise it. Funny, I was always in advanced reading classes and scored very high on literacy. Then again I played piano, won many competitions. I hated that too, after about 3 years. lol

I got the first generation Kindle, when they were first released. I liked it enough but didn't use it as much as I thought. I am a major reader. I find that I like reading books instead. When the technology improves I will consider getting another. My ideal eReader (which hasn't been invented yet) will be just like a Kindle but with a touch screen. If the color Nook wasn't backlit it would be a winner with me.

No regrets here either. I carry mine with me everywhere.

Love mine also. Would never be without one now that I have it. Well worth the money in my opinion. I always carry it with me and it is so nice to have it available at all times.

My kindle and my keurig.........never regretted spending the money on either one.
